WRONG...

Nowhere in your warranty or otherwise does it indicate you are owed a "new" product if yours fails for any reason...

Apple owes you a FIX. You aren't giving them a brand new phone, you are giving them a USED one for warranty work. If it's within 30 days you can just return it, if not, get over the "I need a new one because I can't have a refurb... Apple owes me a new one because mine had a problem... wah wahhhh".

It's absolutely hillarious when people start these "is mine a refurb?" threads... if you can't tell, why care in the first place??? I would understand if it had a big gouge in it, or functioned differently... but come on, even you can't tell (and obviously you are anal if you are asking in the first place... not a bad thing, just pointing that out lol).

Sheesh people. You don't get a whole new car if your alternator fails... you get a new alternator and the same USED car you drove in with.

If there are ANY issues with the refurb, Apple will gladly give you another...

Exactly, I don't get someone else's repaired car with a new alternator. If they, say, replaced the battery if my IPhone had a faulty one, then that would be fine by me but I don't want to get an iPhone that some one else has had before, was defective then repaired and then sent to me. Warranty or no warranty, it's more about the moral to me and then maybe they should change their warranty policies(or rather just respect the legal ones here in Europe as everybody should since it's the LAW[refering to AppleCare in particular]).

How's that for anal? :D

Nothing wrong with a refurbished phone, I had my 4 replaced back in september because my ear-speaker was really quiet I could hardly hear from it, was fine using the included earbuds however. I got a refurbished phone, it came with a new screen and back glass and looked brand new and still functions perfectly fine now.

I've had my iPhone replaced 4 times now an every time the serial number start with c39 why has that change these time?

Seems you may have some deeper rooted OCD issues that need to be dealt with. Chances are, in your current state you are never going to be happy with ANY phone you get. So I'd get some cheap flip phone and use the extra $ to see a Psychiatrist

I have never had to return an iPhone for any reason and I've had all versions and multiples of some. Anyone who has returned a phone 4 times can't have a legitimate reason for doing so and needs to get a life.

I just got my iPhone replaced with an anther iPhone.

My 1st iPhone have an serial number start with c39gw that I brought brand new and now I've got an serial number start with DGgh does that mean it REFURBISHED cos the serial number don't match..... All my other iPhone that I've have had replaced with the apple store start with c39.. This has all happend within an month

Don't really have to look at a serial number to find out.
If you had it replaced by Apple outside of the 30 days after inital purchase, you will receive a replacement unit that is REMANUFACTURED by Apple.
You will received a REFURBISHED unit if you purchase one thru other channels such as AT&T.

Apple replaced failed/defective units with remanufactured units, not refurbished. That is, unless they've changed their policy with the release of the 4S. If not, its not refurbished.

Hello all!

Just reading through this thread and new to Rumours!

I know the last post was a while, however I have to say that I am due to replace my phone with a Remanufactured unit. I actually understand where some people come from with the whole OCD! Believe me!!! Why should you get a phone with any "second" parts. You paid fair and square for your own brand new, unused in every way phone and if they haven't held their end by delivering that then you deserve another..... End of!

On the flip side , as many of you give your opinion on "refurbs" and "reman" phones, let me give mine. Apple dish out Remanufactured phones which mainly consist of new parts. Battery, casing, aluminium case rim, buttons, flash etc. it is all 90% brand new. These are the parts that will deteriorate or decrease in performance once used previously. Lenses, circuitry etc. which are unaffected may be and will be thoroughly tested and filtered back into the manufacturing process!!!

Enjoy
