With the iPhone 5/4S coming (whichever) I am wondering how campouts for Apple stores located inside malls work. I have camped out in GA before, but where I live in FL, the Metairie store is closest and with my upgrade not being until 11/25/11 I can get an early upgrade for $50 cheaper at Apple rather than AT&T. Do they allowing staking out outside of the mall? When they open the doors to the mall, does everyone rush in and lose the place they waited in all night? Thanks to any help!
You don't Lakeside Mall has a policy against camping out I believe. I live there. I also think Apple will have like a another queue outside their store, and they most likely will seeing as the area where the store is is pretty large and you have Café DuMonde right across it.
Yikes, how does that work every year? Seems like there would never be 100% obedience with no one to be found on a product launch eve.
Last year people had to walk, not run (police were there) to the store where they got to make another line to get in store. Fire Marshall limits were taken into account and there were lots of angry people in there.
So they did camp out if there were people that were escorted in? And wow, that stinks. The Georgia campout was great fun, but I'm not driving that far again, camping out, and driving back to FL with no sleep. I think that feeling I had is actually close to what death is like.
I believe people camped out on the Severn Street side of the Mall. Because the other side is the Causeway area which is under heavy construction since 2009.
I can't decide what to do. I don't know if I sould try your store or go to the familiar one in Jackson, MS (I know I've been saying GA, I don't know why). But the MS one is 5 hours away and Metairie 3. :/
