No, if you did that then the brightness would be less but if we removed 3/4ths of the pixels then we could save 3/4ths of the battery life and still have the same brightness.

Are you planning on removing those with a hacksaw?

I'm still trying to figure out how having a sharper screen makes it harderfor you to see if you have bad eyes.

I do, so does my dad. It's either doing that or zooming in because it's a pain. I'm half blind too and my vision will probably be totally gone in the next 20 years. Safari text is fine, the keyboard is fine, but the apps are the big problem.

A resolution feature might squish everything, but at least it'll allow people like me to look at the screen easier without straining our eyes. Maybe an adapter could be a better solution.

your argument makes absolutely NO sense.

the images on the screen of the ip4 are EXACTLY the same size as the images on the screen of the 3g and 3gs, only they are more clear.

How are you having a harder time seeing something that is more clear?

There is absolutely zero logic in what you are saying.

Oh hey.

Hey guys, when I get my iPhone 4 will it have the proper resolution already set up or do you can swtich between Retinas Mode and a lower resolution, like maybe the 3GS resolution. That way you can save battery power when you're on the go, and don't need the higher res.

Thanks

You're joking, right?

Wait a minute, am I being Punked?!?

Is that you Ashton?

I'm not really amazed here. I work for a telecommunications company (not going to say which one, as I am scared of getting lynched), and about two and a half years ago, while working in the DSL group, I received a call from a customer who wanted to have her DSL downgraded to a lesser speed, not because of pricing, but because the speed of the DSL (a whopping 6M) was too much for her to keep up with. Thinking I was being offered this ridiculous excuse as a form of concealing her cheap nature, I explained that regardless of the speed she chose, her billing would remain unaffected since her rates were locked in for a 12-month period. She still insisted a slower speed is what she wanted because her "internets" were more than she could keep up with. So, am I really shocked or tickled by this thread? NOT AT ALL.

It sounds like some people are getting confused by desktops where you can set your screen resolution. Increasing the resolution on the same monitor will make everything smaller.

How you could make that mistake while owning an iPhone is beyond me, however.

wow. wow. WOW.

you, and other people DO realize that the font and EVERYTHING is the SAME SIZE, right?

it's just more crisper on the iPhone 4 = it should be easier to read.

+1

In no cases is it harder to see things on the iPhone 4 vs the 3GS. No cases. For people with bad eyesight, the iPhone 4 rocks! :)
