Ideally I'd like to be able to pre-order it for pickup at the Apple Store (since they ship to your billing address I would have to be home to receive it).

I think they stopped doing this, at least they didn't do it with the 4S. This would be my preference as well. I did it with the 4. I got in around 5pm, paid for phone, they activated it, and I was good to go. No long lines, no worrying about a package that would be arriving while I am at work.

I'll probably get it at the local AT&T store instead of pre-ordering this time. I want to look at one first hand before I buy.

I'll wait and buy from BestBuy when I can find one in stock. For my 4S, I was finally able to find a 64GB at BestBuy in Ft. Collins, an hour away from Denver. This was in January.

I'm going to do it the old-fashioned way -- I'll try to get my company to pay for it.

Assuming that it needs a new type of SIM, I'll be getting it from my operator (Telecom) so that I don't have to worry about sourcing a SIM separately. If it doesn't need a new SIM then I'll be getting it wherever it's cheapest (which may involve renewing my contract if the numbers work out).

That's a great idea.

With it's massive new display it may be too heavy :)

Great idea.

Fortunately my company just rolled out a new BYOD policy, now I'll be getting the new upcoming Galaxy Nexus at no cost to me. It's going to be interesting to see what people choose. Several are eagerly awaiting the upcoming windows phone. That will be very interesting.

Between Android & Windows Phone, 2013 is going to be one very interesting year. Three players in the smartphone space will spice it up a bit. The haters will have one more platform to bash. Fun, Fun, Fun.
