Wrong thing to do my friend. I just opened a thread warning everyone not to put any gadgets with screens in the pocket. The pocket acts like a balloon that pumps air and dust while you move around. My new 3G is dust free after breaking this hard habit. :)

I carry it with my hand.

I'm using the invisible shield, and in my front pocket. I've carried other stuff in there, and never had a problem with dust in the screen, if I've got the shield. :) I love that thing.

In a case, in my pocket. Who cares if it flops around. This isn't baby jesus in your pocket, it's a ****ing phone. Chillax.

Why so I can put more strain on the phone and the screen and have the posibility of it breaking I think not.

Where do you shop? 'Extremes R Us?'

Pockets that are too big to use or too small to use are your only options? My pants have never put a strain on the phone, nor does it flop around.

lol - I'm just enjoying this topic.

Are there any pant-related research studies we can link to that addresses this topic? I fear more work in this area is desperately needed.

I use the Sena Elega case, it's awesome. When I first got it it was pretty tight, but after a week it's realll good, holds the phone firmly so its not going anywhere but it's loose enough now that I can take it out easily

Oh and im using it with a 3G.

I keep mine in my pocket & I wear jeans most of the time. My jeans are maybe a little on the tighter side, but not extreme or anything. They seem to hold my iPhone pretty securely. I carried my first-gen iPhone in my pocket for a year as well and never had any dust problems.

Nice. How does the belt clip hold up? Does it hold the case securely to your side?

Same here! I do it the same way! Gets people staring at you with eyes wide open.

I have two cases. One's leather, and the other one is just a floppy protective case. Since I don't plan on purchasing the 3G soon, I don't bother putting it in a case anymore. But if I got my hands full, I'll put it in my purse in a safe compartment.

I used to cosset my iPhone in a iSkin Revo. That was until a friend told me they had just kept their iPhone in their jacket pocket, naked, for the last year, jangling around with keys and all sorts - and no visible scratches whatsoever.

So now my 3G just lives in an otherwise empty pocket. I don't think I'd be so brave to have it jangling around with keys, not this revision with the plastic back anyway.

Seriously, it's not going to snap in half if you start doing squats. Just keep the screen towards your body in case you ever run into something sharp!

...Although I must say that Sena Elega case does look rather nice. I wonder how easy/clean it would be to dremel off the belt clip... ;)

I'm trying to figure this out. I ordered an 8GB 3G this past Sunday, and I want to have this decided by the time it comes in. I typically carry my BlackJack in my right pants pocket, but sometimes I inadvertently put it in my left pocket with my keys. I'd hate to do that with my iPhone. That's why I think I need some sort of protective sleeve or case. I have the Griffin iClear for my iPhone. It works very well. Strong polycarbonate construction.

Currently, I carry mine in my hand or in my front pocket naked. But (hopefully) next week the Vaja Retro Slim Bag I ordered will arrive.

the OP made me chuckle abit, reminded me of the episode of scrubs (cant find/remember episode for youtube) where dr cox goes on about how he cant understand why people carry their cell phones on their belts, just inches away from a perfectly good pocket :D

anyway, i'm getting an iphone soon, and have been thinking whether to get a case or not. i've had phones for about 6 years (im only 18) and never had a case for any, but i do have haunting memories of crushing the screen of one of my phones when i walked into a vice in a wood tech lesson at school, although they did stick out of the side of the desks. anyway, i'd hate to break the screen of a brand spankin new iphone
