I would just use warm water, or a damp cloth. Detergents can damage the band.

I did a bunch of yard work yesterday while wearing the watch. Got inside and the whole watch was covered in dirt and debris, I just ran it under the faucet and dried it off right after. No problems at all.

I've learned to use baby wipes on stuff you are unsure of. If it's gentle enough for a baby, should be fine for the watch bands.

I wouldn't buy to much into that as most of those products are designed to get baby use to harsher chemicals as they grow.

I got a sports model with a white band. I love to garden. See the problem? I did, today. The interior of my band was full of dirt, and dirt was sticking to the outside of my watchband, too. What to do?

I took the band off (press the button on the inside of the watch and let it slide out. A mild solution of Dawn and water washed off all of the dirt and grit. It looks like new.

Dry well with paper towels, put back on and it's brand new. Thanks goodness they thought about how not to have absorbent plastic for the grimy look.

How about you?

After a long workout, while washing my hands with soap, I give the band a rubdown with my soapy fingers (well, that didn't come out right) and then rinse it off.

Hi all, well I'm 3 weeks into my 42mm sport with white band. (having come from the pebble, which is in itself a great device ) I am loving this thing....
Anyway, I've had my watch on pretty much full time since i got it....
work/gym/shower/sleep etc....... so obviously the band is going to get a bit dirty..... having tried various methods, tonight I used a "Little" GUMPTION with a soft sponge and water and WOW! presto..... as good as new. for me, its a win....
happy as....just water and normal soaps etc haven't really done the job this well...... if you wish to try, just bare in mind, Gumption is an abrasive so use very little.

I'm not sure how you are using your watch but I've had mine for a week and I've been exercising with it and wearing constantly. My band is still as fresh as when I unboxed it.

I've used lens cleaner. It's a mix of distilled water and 70% rubbing alcohol. It's taken all the smudges off my white (and black) sports bands. They look brand new.

I wipe my band down about once a week just with a damp towel just to keep it clean but I have yet to see anything get on my white band yet, I was very hesitant to order the white band due to I was so afraid it would get dirty, but its been awesome.

Oh, agreed.... However, if u think about it... Most stains/dirt/grit/grime whatever you want to call it...has attached itself to the surface of the band. I very light ( I stress ) rub, can be just the thing.....

If you REALLY want to keep it clean, just wipe it down as often as needed with a 50/50 isopropyl/water mix. Won't damage anything or wear down the band over time, and it kills bacteria.

See, 3 weeks and still spotless :)

After 3 months, my black sports band had a layer of built-up grime, especially on the wrist side. Washing with water alone did not help...

Dish soap worked pretty well (I used a soft sponge to scrub). It removed around 95% of the grime, but not all of it.

Is dish soap the best, or is there some other chemical I might try? Maybe I should use soap more often to prevent buildup?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I see from an old post (below) that people have used vinegar, alcohol, and baking soda. I might try vinegar to get the rest of the grime, but I'm also wondering if there is anything to avoid. Warm water alone definitely doesn't work for dead skin/oil buildup, especially if you work out in your watch.

I recall seeing posts in which owners have noticed the coating peeling from the watch band after washing, if you google you can see some photos. I've used computer wipes in the past (only those that say they can be used on laptop screens with anti glare coating - my thinking is that they contain less destructive chemicals). Also don't get too rigorous.

I have used rubbing alcohol and it seems to work most of the time. I just wouldn't use anything that's corrosive or any type of chemical cleaner.
