CRIMINAL is an understatement.
How is it possible that Tim Apple can charge $1200 for the Pro Max and a year later only gives nearly HALF for trade in credit? It isn't even cash we are talking about and then to release a new iPhone that is super underwhelming? I have lost faith in Apple for the first time for being super greedy. They are not decently fair like they used to be. People should stop defending a company that does not value us. Without us
They are NOTHING  Also the videos & pictures they demonstrated of the new camera looks super over-processed still. Meaning that the iPhone 11 Pro still has the best camera system of all the iPhones.

Because they can.

People should stop thinking they have a need to (and a right to a "subsidized") upgrade every year.
I have no problem with upgrading every year if the price is fair.
But for them to release a crappy update and to feel okay with giving us less to help upgrade is betrayal for the people who are loyal to Apple. I do support the hard work Apple does but I don't support their treatment towards us.

I don't really think about it? I'll take whatever they offer and just pay the difference as usual. I think my 15 is "worth" $410.00 which seems fair enough to me.

You can go through the rigamarole of selling privately and get probably get more after any fees/shipping.

Apple sets the price and you get to decide if it's fair.

learn to sell you own phone don't rely on apple lol

I mean it’s really not a reason to upgrade if you have a 15 pro max. 16 pro max is essentially the same phone with minor tweaks ( some of which are software). But getting half the price for the 15 pro max is decent.

I work in a phone store I usually sell mine for $900 and get the new one for $1200 every year...

Last year on the Introduction day I traded my 14pm for the 15pm and they gave me $650.00 in trade. In the presentation Tim made it sound like it was more this year. I looked up to verify and it was the same this year as last year.

$650 was how much a new iPhone use to cost and it has slowly went up every year. Boiling frog strategy.
And people keep buying them up ….why change when people don’t care? Besides most are buying on payment plans or credit. And the average person has only an elementary (at best) understanding of basic finances

Everything has gone up. You get to decide if the price is fair.
People will spend until they are out of cash and then spend more till their credit is maxed out. Credit card debt has long surpassed student loan debt….think about that.

The majority of the people I know personally with an iPhone 15 Pro Max are not upgrading. Even the one girl in my friend group who is like an iJustine clone in terms of fandom isn't upgrading and she upgrades yearly.
Upgrading every year is not ideal because the changes are incremental. My only fear is that next year Apple will again differentiate between the Pro and the Pro Max. I really want all the features Apple can put into an iPhone without having to choose between two different sizes.

It’s mainly the camera and the seemless zoom, pics etc but that’s pretty much it. Worth to for me to upgrade?

During the Apple event this morning, they said you can get up to $1000 off the price of a new iPhone with a trade-in. I checked on the Apple website, and they only offered $650 for the trade-in for my iPhone 15 Pro Max with 512GB storage. WTF? Seems deceptive to me.
