Well going on past iPhone launches the iPhone 6 was the least pleasing design to behold. In the past Apple always relished in the videos and spoke how proud they were of the iPhone 4 and 5 with glass back and chamfered edges diamond cut precison processing just a work of art to look at making the consumer say yeah I want that iPhone.

Then when the 6 appeared on keynote and the photos and videos just didn't have that same effect, the protruding camera and those ugly antenna bands especially on white and even the space gray just looked like wasn't complete in production. It was like looking at a prototype when in reality it was the finished product.

Meh. Don't love it. Don't hate it. Despite the great build quality, aluminum chassis, and smoothed edges of the display, it just doesn't have a gotta-have-it look and feel for me. The antenna lines are an abhorrence.

I enjoy the new rounded, seamless design. The screen is beautiful, yet it feels weird and plastic like because it's thinner and curved. Opinions?
The screen off button on the 6 should have been left on top--keep turning down volume when darkening screen
On the 6+ maybe OK--not on the 6

dont love it dont hate it. i get the rounded edges make it look more sleek but i miss the straight edges. phone's too slippery as is. i probably would prefer something more similar to the 5s with a bigger screen. i also prefer the more champagne gold of the 5s then the 6 gold.

I agree with this. But what I found interesting is that in any product shots that Apple made of the 6 and 6+ you don't see the protrusion of the camera and just like with the 5s, the Space Gray models are shown as being a darker color then they actually are.

Marketing.

Design is great, however bezels have to go. Why does Apple insist on keeping those small bezels.

I don't own one but might get the 6S. The size is perfect for my hands. I current have a Galaxy S4 and it's just a tiny bit too big for my tastes. The iPhone 6 could do with a rougher surface on the back to make it better to grip and also offering a black front with any color would be good.

The antenna lines and protruding camera makes it look a lot cheaper than it actually is. The 5S is still my top 1 best looking smartphone. The antenna lines on the 5S actually broke up the design in a good way. Now they're huge and make the phone look bad. What I do hope though is that we see the new Space Grey Apple introduced on the new iPod Touch on the iPhone. Interesting to see how that will look.

Getting very close to not liking it at all.
  • I don't like the antenna bands, they look like leftover join marks on a prototype.
  • I don't like the protruding camera.
  • The aluminium feels strange, like it's loaded up with teflon yet somehow gets greasy easily.
  • The Space Grey is the lightest of all, I miss the proper black slate of the iPhone 5. With that back colour and much, much darker antenna bands it might have been OK.
  • I hate, HATE the sleep/wake button and the volume up button being opposite each other. Had more than a few occasions where I've gone to take a photo using the volume button while having my thumb on the bottom edge of the phone and put the damned thing to sleep.
  • I don't know if it's just me but I find the camera adds a fake-ish looking bokeh effect to the out of focus areas of my photos. Like Apple's ISP is blurring them further using some sort of randomising pattern. So instead of a smooth out-of-focus area it looks like little brush strokes everywhere. It looks like they're trying to artificially create the 3D-pop you get from a big aperture by blurring areas closer to the focal point - creating a fake looking depth of field.
  • My panoramas never seem to properly auto-adjust the exposure. On the iPhone 5S Apple showed how the new panorama feature would adjust the exposure of the image so if you went from a light area to a dark area you would still have a nicely exposed image. If I start in one kind of lighting on my 6 it always seems to lock exposure there and the other end of the image will be blown out or totally underexposed.
  • The foam on the front camera is moving in front of the lens.
  • It creaks at the bottom right corner if you grip it.
  • There's a gap the whole way across the top between the curved edge of the glass and the metal where fluff and dust get stuck.
  • My Touch ID is maybe 2/3 accurate but slow when it does work.

I know, the last few are actual issues with my specific phone but they add to my own impression of the unit.

I love the screen size. The design is okay. It's nice, but I never really looked at it and thought, 'Wow, gorgeous design!' I actually like the lines of the 5.
