Wow, that is surprising... you would think that in this level machine they would go with a higher end IPS type panel. Still, looks much better than I thought it would for a TN...

I don't know any laptop that doesn't use a TN panel; maybe I'm wrong?

Hmm... didn't think about that. I don't know enough about the physical characteristics of the different panels as far as thickness etc... but the other higher quality panels may not be laptop material so to speak.

I love the display. The ONLY problem I've noticed is when I'm in direct sunlight, not direct office light, just sunlight. The colors are very vivid and they seem to pop. I also love the black border / covering across the entire LCD.

The Flexview screen on the old non-widescreen Thinkpad T60 was IPS, but that was a long time ago..

I really like my screen, 9C84, the colors are really really nice next to other laptops.
 
I believe Lenovo dropped the IPS screen option a couple of years ago. As far as I know, no manufacturer has laptop IPS screens.
