- Screen that doesn't smudge

- some sort of camera lens cover (something similar to the point & shoot cameras)

Really? More than 10 hours?

So if you had to pick between 12 hours of battery life and a little bit thicker or 10 hours of battery life and little bit thinner, which would you pick?

Thicker/longer battery life. Don't get me wrong, 10 hrs is awesome and that is one reason I go for the iPad over other tablets but I would gladly take 12 hrs if they could do it. I don't need something as thin as a price of paper. Just don't want something the size or weight of a laptop.

I like the design just fine. Maybe a smaller bezel, but same size screen. I think this is the perfect size.

Or keep the same size and make the screen edge to edge so that you have more screen realestate but same size device. I could go for both though. Smaller size would have its benefits too.

I'm surprised no one has brought up what I feel is the biggest weakness of the iPad compared to its competitors. Coming from a Tab 10.1, I miss the stereo speakers. While watching or listening to any media on the iPad in landscape, your ears automatically notice the mono sound coming from one side.

I also find the iPad not as comfortable to hold as the Tab because of its sharper, tapered edge. A thicker edge comparable to the Tab would be preferable to me. Fortunately adding a protective cover on back of the current iPad helps mitigate this issue.

Design-wise I think the iPad 2/iPad 3 are very good. They could make the bezel a little smaller, but not by much. Remember, when they decrease the bezel they also lose all the space behind it (and therefore a lot of space for components). So unless there is a major battery density breakthrough, we won't be seeing the iPad dimensions change dramatically. Also if there was no bezel, you couldn't hold it comfortably without covering some of the screen, which means you will always be blocking some of the image. I know this is design, but what they have to do for next year hardware:

  • Dual-core A15 (people get hung up on the cores and clock speed, as opposed to the architecture. The A15 is MUCH faster per clock and more efficient, meaning less battery drain with improved performance.
  • Improved front-facing camera (what most people use anyway since the iPad is really meant for video-conferencing, not picture taking imo)
  • 1GB DDR3 Ram (so far every iPad release cycle has doubled the ram capacity, but although 2GB would be nice, I doubt Apple will follow-through). DDR3 is more efficient and faster, so there is no reason not to upgrade.
  • Wireless induction charging built in. Why not!
