My guess is people make money editing the language/grammar of 16 year olds on forums from this:

i mean, i have a part time job @ pacsun making almost 300 every 2 weeks, n i cant afford any of this except my ibook, which i didnt even buy. so tell me, how r ppl paying?

to this:

I mean, I have a part time job at Pacsun making almost $300 every 2 weeks, and I can't afford any of this except my iBook, which I didn't even buy. So tell me, how are people paying?

I think there's a mint to be made here, personally :D

Sorry for the nitpicking, it's early and this was the first post I read this morning. Something about it just tweaked me a bit and I needed to get that off of my chest. I feel better now, I think.

:)

I kind of resent that. I don't enjoy being referred to as a "little kid" who only has Apple products b/c my daddy can afford them. I have a 15" iMac G5 and it's a nice computer and I'm very grateful that my parents got it for me for Christmas out of their own will.
If one's parents can afford it and the kid is going to use it and enjoy the Mac, what is wrong with the kid getting the computer??
And I at least try to act like I know what I'm doing and hope that I do. Most people who don't give a crap about the computer and only have it b/c they're rich probably wouldn't be on this forum.

Oh, and I agree with the guy, RAZR first, MB later.
Also, I think a lot of people either have nice professional jobs, have the computers for work, or are in debt on the computer.

yea i mean, that wasnt directed mainly toward you. thats cool that they got u the imac tho. my mom is a single parent, and when she can afford it, she buys me things. im jsut saying there are some kids on here that get like, MBPs, iMacs, xbox360s, n all that just from their parents and they dont do shiz to deserve them. Some even say oh its so nice to be spoiled. i know i saw it in one of these topics. ill have to do some searchig and see if i can come up with a link to more specifically point it out.

Not to detract from your sentiment, but does this computer exist? I remember a 15" iMac G4 and then 17" and 20" iMac G5's...

sorry, just curious.

As to my computer(s), I saved a little each month and then bought them. I hate using credit, and having this incentive, I save myself frittering away cash on drinks and various other types of debauchery (although I always budget for some...).

I don't really see anything wrong with parents buying their kids a mac. As long as the kid appreciates what his/her parents has given them and use it to it's full potential. (only if the parents have the means). My dad bought me my G4 Dual 1Ghz when that first came out and it became really useful right off the bat. I was in college and needed a pretty quick machine to edit videos/PS/AI/etc.

Heck, my dad even helped me pay like half of my current sys...even though he didn't really need to. He just wanted to cuz he just feels better when he helps me buy my Macs like back in the day when i was little.

If you don't have a parent to help you out, i don't suggest you invest so much money into something you may or may not use often. Only buy what you think you'll need when you have sufficient funds...if it's paycheck to paycheck, don't even bother...you have other things to worry about.

You're still young..16, getting paid 300 dollars for 2 wks is decent, just save up. I'm 25, I pay more than 400 dollars in my CC bill alone every single week and I don't buy much..really. So, just do everything to your means and don't over do it, cuz you'll end up screwing yourself over.

Ive got plenty of ppl to help me out, So im all set there. I can understand parents buying macs for their kids, n thats cool n all, its just when they come to a place like this and brag about it you know? luckily for me, my uncle is a great investor, so he helped me get my ibook. My aunt makes lots of money, but i dont really ask her for much, but when it comes to myb-day and x-mas, i let them buy w/e they want :) my mom makes good money too, but it goes to bills and school first. which im greatful for cause my mom goes without sometimes to make me happy.

I started an EBAY thing to finance my computer purchases. It actually worked and Im a powerseller now, Silver and now I dont even have time to play with my mac! ironic

You can work hard all your life and still remain poor. You can coast through on little except privilege and charisma.

Get used to it. Life is unfair.

All three in my case although the Mac is now paid off. I got a nice new job a few years ago, wanted to also be able to do work at home and learn more about the software I use in my job, so I put a deposit down and paid off the Mac over a couple of years.

I'm not concerned about the depreciation. The freelance work and stuff I've picked up have paid for the Mac many times over.

So I guess the best advice to the OP is to get hold a machine and find ways of making it earn some money for you.

Inheritance in my case. But I've always wanted a Mac (I never liked the old BBC computers in Primary 1 etc) so when I got accepted into a Graphic Design course I got rid of my 300Mhz 128Mb Ram 8Gb Windows computer and got a nice shiny new 17" iMac...

- Well paid professionals who are financially able to purchase things.
- People make spending money on computers a priority above other things
for various reasons.
Those two combined in my case.

1. Buy a box of lucky charms
2. Attack the leprechaun
3. Bind leprechaun
4. grab pot of gold
5. steal a car.
6. put leprechaun in trunk
7. put pot of gold front seat
8. drive to apple store

Good things will come

i think its stored away in a college fund. poop.

Dude, take that education and work your Azzz off. Do the work and don't worry about the petty stuff. In time you'll be able to pay for anything you want. You have the opportunity of a lifetime ahead of you...

There's a lot of less fun jobs out there that pay way more than the creative fields for most folks.

In another year, your at a turning point in your life. The big decision that everyone has to make; do I work at what I love or do I go for the money. Very few get to do what they love and make money at it. Its one of the harder life lessons.

it's easy: the first step is learning the language..........

...Then marry the women and breed out the local genetical characteristics, replacing them with your own.

Oh, wait, sorry, that's how you take over a colony.

This one is more effective though socially less acceptable.

1. Wait till 6:45 pm
2. Sneak into an expensive retirement community
3. Search dressers, under beds, and in bathroom cabinets
4. find hidden stashes of cash
5. leave (quietly smietly, they're all deaf anyway)
6. Go to Apple Store
7. Buy computers
8. Repeat.
