There have been some excellent points in this thread. What I would like to add is: don't worry.

If the screen is uniform (no yellow or pink hue in corners, no backlight bleeding, no darker areas) it's a good display.

Does it look good to you? Then it's good.

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I urge you to consider whether you're possibly thinking about this backwards. If you don't notice a problem, is there really a concern? If you post pictures asking people explicitly to look for anything that isn't perfect, and someone (primed to look for those things) thinks it isn't perfect, is that really a good reason to consider a return?

The only argument I can see for worrying about it, if it isn't bothering you, is resale...but I think you have to ask yourself whether a buyer of a used laptop down the road will not only notice something that you aren't, but also care about it. The odds are good that a person purchasing a used laptop won't have quite the same exacting standards as a person popping the seal on a brand new box.

In short, I'd encourage you to enjoy your purchase. It looks great to me, and it seems to be working for you. Isn't that what counts? Just my 2 cents.

Thank you that's great advice and I song plan on returning, I just get OCD when I've spent $2600 on a laptop lol.

-Does the screen look yellow to you?

-Are you a professional graphic designer who needs pinpoint colour accuracy to do

I was just asking an opinion as this is my very first Mac and cause of all the things of been hearing.

I know--and I'm honestly not trying to give you hard time.

Just keep in mind that this forum is crawling with freaks (myself included) who care way more about stuff than a regular person ever would. Your display looks perfect--if there were truly some uneven yellow blotches in it, you would definitely see them.

So I'm with "the other john" on this--don't be paranoid: enjoy your new computer!! :)

Hahaha crawling freaks love that comment, and thank you for the advice and there is no uneven spots or blotches so calibrating it to a cooler temp if I choose to is easy :)

May be you can compare your MBP with your friend's MBP if you know anyone also own them. Or bring to an Apple store and compare them side by side. You can get a better idea that way.

The problem of exchanging the MBP just because you are not sure the screen has yellow tint on it is how can you be sure the new MBP won't have similar or more yellow tint on it? Are you going to keep exchanging 10 or 20 times?

I think some people who keep worrying about this issue when they don't even have solid evidence, may be should seek a doctor's or psychologist's opinion for their OCD.

My 2c.

I don't think that's OCD at all. It's actually quite normal when people spend a ton of money on something for them to want it to be perfect. Think about how many people wash, wax, and detail their cars when they're brand new. It's the same thing.

It's only problematic if worrying about that stuff causes someone to be unhappy.

I totally get where the OP is coming from.

Who cares if he is, or isn't i paid $2000 for my machine, and id return it. You pay for a premium product, you deserve a premium product!

One thing you could do is take a piece of white paper, and hold it next to your display. Do this under natural light (so sunlight) as opposed to tungsten, which will throw a yellow cast. How does it compare?

Not a scientific test, but it will give you a baseline. I use this method when I'm working on FCPX (albeit with a digital color card on the screen) as a point of reference on my screen for color correcting whites and skin tones.

For me, if you have to go looking or testing to find out if there's a problem then there probably isn't.

Use the machine and if anything strikes you as not normal that is the time to start making enquiries.

The point was, that she was not sure if her display had any defects, and it is impossible to tell from a single picture what the display looks in real life.

So why should she return the product, when it seems to be fine?

I'll give you the same advice: if the display looks good, it's good.

It looks fine. If you have a bad screen it will jump out at you.

Remember that none are perfect.

I don't know what all you guys are saying.
I totally see yellow on that screen!
Then again, we crack smoking Mac users usually do see things with a yellow hue. LoL
Couldn't help myself fitgirl. This is just soooo funny.

Go easy on the crack.

The picture is yellow. But how well does it represent the actual display? Impossible to tell from a single picture without any additional information.

I explained this in the second post of the thread, with image examples. And four other posters also explained this in this very thread.
