More on topic, I successfully have MyWi 4.0 installed & working on two iPhones (my old iPhone 3GS passed on to my brother and my current iPhone 4). I purchased the upgrade through Cydia and was able to install it on both iPhones.

I'm not sure what the exact licensing terms are for MyWi 4.0 but it seems to allow for multiple installs across different iPhones as long as it tied to an account that's already purchased it.

great! now i can buy it :)

Mike, how dare you. You should be ashamed of yourself for your behavior in this thread. How do you sleep at night knowing what you are?
This comment from someone with //COLLECTORS EDITION BITCHES// in their signature. Like I'd care what you think of me. Yeah, right.

Good to know. My trial expires tomorrow and I'm gonna get it also.

So my Mywi trial expired today and I clicked purchase and came up with this screen below.
Is whats displayed not correct and can really be installed on more than 1 iphone? Maybe its still left like that from the Rock days but now on cydia is different?

I saw the same thing. That is why I haven't actually purchased it yet. I am using iTether and TetherMe at the moment. They both allow for multiple devices legally.

The new Cydia license check is very easy. I simply searched for MyWi in Cydia. It said package was officially purchased and I installed it. I did the second thing for a second phone that I purchased MyWi for in Rock about a month ago and it too said it was officially purchased. Installed perfectly on both phones.

So it is allowing you to use it on multiple devices?

Yes, as long as you use the same login to purchase your cydia apps with the other devices. iTunes apps work the same way, use the same email and password and it will install the app on your devices.

However I'm sure the Cydia server will flag an account if 4 or more devices are detected. I had this problem when upgrading 2 iPhone 3g to 2 Iphone 3gs. I just emailed Jay and let him know that I no longer have the older iPhones and I was able to download the apps to my two newer devices. Just don't abuse the system by allowing all your friends to use the same apps.

Yes, you can install on multiple devices apparently despite it saying only 1 activated device per license. I installed mywi (bought yesterday) on both my i4 and my iPad, both of which have been linked to my google account in cydia via their unique UDID's.

In other words, it will work if you own both devices. If it's someone else's device that has already had UDID paired with a different google or facebook account through cydia, it might not work. I wouldn't know because I haven't installed it on a device that isn't linked to my google account on cydia.

People, the app is worth the $$ and you know it. Your data alone on the phone costs more than that in 1 month, voice and text aside. I've been getting by fine with the $2 tether me cydia app and Bluetooth is really nice and efficient for tethering just to my mbp but it's so nice to have the flexibility of a wifi hot spot. I've run meetings on mywi before (had trial a while back) and it worked wonderfully. The only thing that kept me from buying it before was that it depended on rock which I never liked and when I read saurik's recent criticism about it's shortcomings I think I made the right choice by not buying it until it was licensed through cydia. As soon as it no longer carried rock app as a dependency I bought it.

Also, iPhone 4 users out there, this app is especially worth the $$ because of how fast the iPhone 4 data rates get. I'm pretty steadily at 3 megabit down or so and slightly over 1 megabit up. Using the web while tethered with mywi feels just like broadband did 7 years ago. I know we are all spoiled by our 20+ megabit comcast connections and what not but fir something that works (pretty much) everywhere I go, pretty amazing.

Well said, the downlod and upload speed on the i4 is amazing and this app is taking full advantage of it.
Great buy for sure.

Okay, now we've got, what seems to me, a pretty clear directive from the developer that MyWi is licensed per device, not per user.

That being the case, you're pirating the app if you install it on more than one device.

hmmm... This may sound very noobish. I created a google account and just about to link it to my device so I can buy MyWi, but now it show "Package Officially Purchased" in green. I have never purchased it before only tried the trial version a ways back. I installed MyWi and it works. I also checked all the intelliborn apps that I havent used and they all say "Package Officially Purchased". Now if i look at any other developers apps that you buy, its in orange saying "Purchase Package $x.xx". Yesterday when I was looking to find more info about MyWi licensing, it said purchase for $19.99 in orange.

Does this mean im on the 3 day trial or somehow have the full thing?

Happy birthday, you got all intelliborn app for FREE, you should contact Customer support and let them know of the glich (or....you already know what the alternative is ;) )

Well, I've got the same glitch--and I've never downloaded any of their apps even as a trial. Email sent to Saurik, just in case the glitch somehow charges my Paypal account for some damn pricey apps. (Not likely, I'm sure, but...)

Because again, some of us aren't thieves. Didn't this whole conversation already take place earlier in the thread?

From what I hear, it takes forever for him to read mail. You probably have plenty of time to indulge your criminal tendencies if you so choose.

Okay, now we've got, what seems to me, a pretty clear directive from the developer that MyWi is licensed per device, not per user.

That being the case, you're pirating the app if you install it on more than one device.

I purchased a few apps from Cydia a while back and when I got another iPhone I wanted to install the same apps to the new phone while keeping the other. I emailed Jay asking how to go about paying for another license for the new iPhone because I used the same account to login and I noticed it wasn't asking me to pay, it said "Already Purchased". I was told to use the same login account to install the app to the new iPhone which I thought was pretty nice of him to let me do so even though I was willing to purchase another license.

Rock your Phone set up their system to recognize each device and create a user account for each device thus making sure that each app you purchased was tied to that device only. You could also transfer licenses to another device but you couldn't install the app on two devices at the same time.

Cydia uses user account info to install apps regardless of how many devices you used as long as you sign in with the user account, in this case I used my Facebok account. So to be fair to the developers, you must create a different user account for each device you want to purchase the apps for, this way the apps are legitimately paid for. But almost any new user to Cydia would not know this because this is the way the Cydia system works. In time, Cydia will have a system the way Rock Your Phone works to check licenses, give it time.

I'm sure that this wasn't an oversight with Cydia because how many devices would an individual actually own on the average, one or two at the most. You also wouldn't want to give anyone your user account info.

But as another user mentioned, pay for MyWi. It's worth it to me.
