I thought they stopped the early upgrade discount?
Not that I know of. I still have it available. Not going to use it, though.

I'm hoping Verizon allows people to upgrade whether through subsidy or edge. All of the launch day iPhone 5 folks are stuck on sept 21 upgrade cycles which seems a bit late to the party for this launch.
I know the thread requests AT&T but does anyone have any thoughts on Verizon allowing people to do the Edge upgrade without trading anything in on launch day ?
Oh they have been pushing at me to do this. "Upgrade now on next!". Its no big deal, frankly I might just sell a couple old phones, and then put the money back and get one out right, screw next plans and such. If I have to wait some then so be it, but AT&T screwed me over (and many others) by changing my contract end date, but other than that the service has been good. Lets wait and see.
Well with the iPhone 6 event coming up, good part of us are ready to jump and upgrade/refresh our cell phones. My contract was to be up like in October, but if you remember this http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/09/att-extends-upgrade-period-to-two-years/ that many of us on AT&T were pushed out to 2 years (Thanks AT&T). Anyway, say this iPhone is available end of September or maybe October, that is a few months early for me, has anybody gotten lucky and AT&T let them upgrade on a new 2 year contract that early for a shiny new iPhone? I know Sprint has done this in the past before, as they want the sale? My wife is up to upgrade, so she will be on ground floor of an iPhone 6, but if I can't upgrade I will probably save back and buy it out right before end of the year, but want to see if others have been able sweet talk AT&T into letting them have a new iPhone. Thanks.
The poll and premise of this thread ought to include the caveat "...since NEXT was introduced" bc the entire situation changed when that happened, and anyone's previous upgrade experiences become null & void after that.
The reason AT&T does not let you trade in your current NEXT phone as credit towards a new phone after 12 months is because you still owe them a balance (of at least 40% MSRP) on your current phone. The trade in value sucks to be sure but it's not like you're surrendering it without getting anything back in return.Very true. It's clear that AT&T wants to push as many people into NEXT as they can. If they would let me trade in my current phones and apply the trade-in value to the cost of the new phones, it would be worth it for me, but apparently they don't do that.
I think the major carriers are all waiting to see who is the first to scrap contracts altogether.

You can always use the trade-in credit to pay your monthly bill.I don't have a NEXT phone; I'm near the end of my contract. My current trade-in value at AT&T is estimated at around $100, but I've been told that I would not be able to use that trade-in value towards the cost of a NEXT-plan phone.
AT&T moved my upgrade up a few days on their own.
Is there a way to check that? Any time I log into the website, it just tells me my contract end date and that I can upgrade via NEXT. Is there a specific place on the website you're looking?

Just as the post above said, I've been checking this via the Apple website both times.

I doubt they'll let you upgrade for the subsidized price early. AT&T wants everyone on NEXT, in which case they'd be happy to let you upgrade at any time.
