Thanks for the heads-up! Seems to work really well, though it has trouble with names. Still, a great advance. And it's free!

text to speech free app for texting: dragon dictation

i'm hoping it will get a "learn" function soon, so for instance it will learn your name..... just a thought, see if this work (im interested to know), try setting the name up in your contact list.... i guess it uses the names in your contacts to make it easier when translating .....

I came from a BB Curve, and I initially found texting a bit challenging on the iPhone. However, after about a week or two of texting everyday, I easily got used to it.

To the people that say you type faster with a physical keyboard, who are you to determine that? And I'm no one to say that virtual keyboards are better, so let's leave it at this: it comes down to preference.

Personally, I type 100x faster on the iPhone than any blackberry/other phone I've owned, which really bothers me when people say "the physical keyboard is better", well no... because I've used those other phones and it just slows me down.

Well, if I were to say that I typed faster with a physical keyboard, I suppose that I'm the only one able to determine that. Who are you to tell me I can't say I type faster with a physical keyboard?

Did you even read the next sentence in my post?

I don't care how crowded it will be at the apple store on 5th Avenue this weekend in NYC i'm texting on the Iphone to give myself my own opinion. lol

Coming from a BB Curve, I wanted to throw the iPhone at the wall for about the first month because I found typing so frustrating. I would write soliloquies in the BB...long emails, notes, write down dreams if I woke up in the middle of the night.

After a couple of months I definitely got better but still miss a physical keyboard but got used to it and now it's fine. Still don't type as fast I used to on the phone and I definitely keep things shorter so I guess that's good. lol.

I switched to the iPhone almost a year ago and I really do love it. I don't know if I could ever go back to a BB though I can still type faster on that than the iPhone. Landscape is better. I have a love/hate relationship with auto-correct. I just wish they would allow us to edit the ducking dictionary.

I have managed to text on the iphone while driving with one hand and not looking. sometimes the sentance turns out what i wanted it to say other times it turns out a mess.

but i do agree texting and driving is not a good thing, i actualy busted a tire because of it, now i wait for red lights and parking lots etc...

Very for me IMO. I've learnt how to text fast on it but I don't text on it while driving.
