I was just testing my typing because everyone says that I type really fast, but I don't think i do.

So I decided to test myself here and I was wondering how fast my fellow MR members type.

Take the test and post what you got.

well it depends, for how fast you type. I type extremely fast at the hospital but thats because i do the same routine about 30 times a day. But at home my typing is only around 60 WPM. It used to be at 100 but it has gone down some.

Fast enough for everything that I have to do.

That test came out at a gross of 59 WPM but I was conscious of reading and typing at the same time - and watching out for potentially non-UK spellings. When I'm thinking of a subject that I want to type on, I suspect that my rate is substantially higher.

Not very fast.

Back in the mid 80s, the last year in our junior high school equivalence, I signed up for a class in typing. I already had a computer and figured out that learning how to type, secretary style, could be useful.

Then I got called into the guidance councillor's office and explained that as I was the only boy, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to attend that class... I simply couldn't take that class... I was so shocked I actually didn't manage to protest and ended up not getting to take it... to this day I still get aggravated thinking about that frelling guidance councillor...

Mm. I remember in high school, my classmates and I would make it a competition to see who could type the fastest. Ah, the days of Mavis Beacon.

My results today:
Gross Speed: 76 WPM
Errors: 4 Words
Net Speed: 74 WPM
Accuracy: 94%

A paltry 37 WPM with my two fingers. Not very fast, I know, but it works for me. As Applespider mentions, I type slower when I'm looking up to read what I need to be typing. When I'm typing 'out of my head' (like writing a post or an email, for example) I'd say I'm a little quicker.

harrrr.

I don't know why my picture is so small.

I might not be that fast but at least I'm fairly accurate

I like to be able to backspace when I type so I used this one instead. http://www.learn2type.com/TypingTest

The exercise was:
A Miser sold all that he had and bought a lump of gold, which he buried in a hole in the ground by the side of an old wall and went to look at daily..One of his workmen observed his frequent visits to the spot and decided to watch his movements..He soon discovered the secret of the hidden treasure, and digging down, came to the lump of gold, and stole it.

I had perfect accuracy.

My speed was 37 WPM.

I got 84WPM on that one. I think i'm the fastest typer here. I challenge any one of you to a typing battle. Who can beat me?

Wow.

Where did you learn to type so fast? Did you learn from The Secret?

Exactly the same. 59. I had to backtrack to type some of the words correctly though.

Got higher than i thought I would after not typing for speed for a long time.

Measly 70WPM

However I will agree i am slower at typing when reading than when it is coming out of my head.
