comcast here, 8GB plan...I average between 9 and 15 GBs. i have a smallish 2 bedroom apartment so distance from router is not an issue.

yikes...replace GB with MB please...i'm asleep at the wheel :)

With Comcast I have seen only about 10Mb/sec on my iPad. I get around 20Mb/sec on my desktop with a wired connection to the router.

That pretty much matches my Comcast account in Central Illinois.

I haven't seen over 22 mbit/sec, even though I have seen up to 38mbit/sec on my desktop and notebook. (And confirmed that the Macbook can do it both wired and WiFi.)

I suspect that the WiFi speed is constrained by some hardware or software limitation. Apple's been getting better on this, as my iPhone 3G was limited to 5mbit/second, and I know the 3GS is better.

Of course, Speedtest, etc. really isn't the right way to test this. I'm a developer, and am thinking of porting iPerf to iPhone/iPad since nobody seems to have done it. iPerf is a client/server for testing throughput between any two points. So, you could install the server on some computer on your LAN, and run the client on your iPhone/iPad.

(Only thing I cam across in Google searches was some developer offering a lowball $100 on Rent-a-Coder to port it. I think the listing died.)

I get on average 10Mbit on mine. I am connected with a Linksys WRT610N and a 40Mbit Cable Connection.

Comcast 10GB plan (or around that idr). I get about 10mb/s avg but depends on how close I am... if I'm in my room (about 60 ft away from office) it's very weak at about 2mb/s

BTW, until we had it installed I had no bars on my iPad showing, now I have full bars.Leads me to believe, people with no bars showing have router issues

At home around 800 down and 125 up, at work the g router max out at 1,5mb down and 500 up.
So the iPad isn't the weakest link in my Internet connections.

    Hey,

Check out this speedtest result I got using Speedtest X HD iPad app.

    Download speed: 16335.00 Kbps (15.95 Mbps / 2041.88 KB/s)
    Total test time: 5.015 Seconds
    Connection type: WIFI

This is always slower than the 22/2.8 Mbps I get on the MBP, but faster than what I get on the iPhone. I wish I understood all I know about these sorts of measurements.

    My ISP is AT&T U-verse.

    Here are my latest result.......................

iPad: (pretty much the best I can get it) Wireless N with WPA2

PC on same connection but via Ethernet cable:

As you can see, Upload speeds the same on both devices, but the iPad via Wireless can only manage (approx) half the speed of the same connection via Ethernet to a PC.

Very happy with speeds & guess this is normal, but would like to know why if anyone knows?

I get about 8mb download and 700kbs upload on a 20mb virgin media connection. I always get 20mb on my pc so I was hoping for a better speed on the iPad.
