Not necessarily. You should leave at least 15% free for full optimization of the device.

Like...close to 27.5gb worth of songs. The rest was just photos/apps.

I have one full length movie a handful of TV shows, music videos etc...Of course the HD video capture and images do add up quick.

I have 1334 songs, 141 videos (140 of which are videos that I've shot, the one other is an episode of Glee), 269 photos and 67 applications.

I had my 32GB 3GS loaded to the gills, primarily with videos, until I got my iPad. Now I've got room to spare.

I'm trying to figure out how I made it with an 8GB iPhone 2G...or how some made it with 4GB.

I can't listen to anything less than that because i can hear the difference in quality.

I've ripped all my DVDs. I've got a ton of movies and TV showes in iTunes. Whatever free space I have on my iPhone, I fill up with random videos. Every now and then I trade them out for something else.

My phone is always 95% full.

Oh, also, PHOTOS. I've got 10,117 photos in there right now. I'd love to keep even more, but I gotta save some space for music and videos!
