Is that the current 1TB LaCie SSD drive or a DIY using their enclosures?

Are you using 2 LaCie LBDs in a 4-SSD RAID, or a single 2 drive unit to get those speeds? What disks are you using in them? Those are pretty impressive results.

That pic is coming from 2 Lacies in a TB RAID, the results of a single one are posted below (the Lacie is made of 2SSDs working in Raid by default). Basically the same in Read, below in Write. I'm still not sure whether i'm going to use them in Raid or not, the performance is over the top in both cases.

The bottom line for me was that, for less of the price of the Apple SSD option, i could get an internal 128gbs of SSD, + almost a TB of space to be used for windows/storage of whatever, plus a full 1TB of faster-than-Apple 768GB SSD drive.

Tried to boot from it from my MBAir for testing and didn't have an issue, was obviously way faster then my MBAir boot standards (which is an SSD anyway), but i still have to decide whether i'll use them as boot for my iMac or not.

If only the Backpacks worked with the 2012! Waiting for the update from TwelveSouth. Supposedly they will sell the clips for the 2012 model soon.

I didn't realise the shape of the stand had changed. I suppose the base looks a little more tapered. Is the change just thickness?

The "BackPack" comes with 2 different pairs of soft plastic inserts which fit into the common metal adjustment clips that attach to the platform. It looks like the inserts accommodate different thicknesses of the stand, as well as the taper-angle of the stand edge. Hopefully, if new inserts are required for the new iMacs, they will send them to those who pre-purchased the "BackPack" for use with their new iMacs.

I have 2 of them, one will hold my optical drive just under the chin of the iMac for easy front access, and the other will be on the back of the stand to hold 2 external SSD drives.

TwelveSouth updated their page to say the BackPacks now work on the 27" iMac, without having to buy anything extra. I hadn't even realized till I read their post on the matter. I tested with two of my BackPack (the original) stands and they both work great.

I had already purchased 2 of the BackPacks, so I emailed customer support and they sent me a 2-pairs of the new iMac inserts at no charge. I believe they are only needed if you attach fairly high up on the iMac stand.
