I've used the Kumquat silicone case with the MagSafe charger for a little over a month and unfortunately I do have the dreaded ring mark. I plan on buying a few new Apple silicone cases, but I will not be using the MagSafe charger with them. These cases are too expensive to be damaged like this in such a short period of time.

It looks even worse in daylight.

How has everyone else's cases fared?

Here is another picture. This is indoors as well.

Sorry, that must be frustrating. Especially at that price. What a low brow cash grab by apple. Despite the image in their app showing how these cases will be damaged by their very own charger, I’m sure they didn’t intend this. It’s a design failure, or compromise at best. Apple should be the target of more vocal and frequent criticism until they do something to make it up to customers. I don’t buy the “just don’t use MagSafe charger” argument. Apple designed it and clearly decided people would accept it. May their amateur MagSafe rollout fail force them to tighten up their operations.

This isn’t even the case they show with the ring on it. That is is the leather case. Nowhere on the site does it show the ring on the silicone cases.

Got the ring on the case for the 2 weeks I used it. Silicone. Now caseless and have no ring on the phone. I use MagSafe , duo and wallet

Mine is showing the ring little by little. (Leather case). I find myself using the MagSafe charger even though I know it sucks.

It left a ring on my phone and the only thing I use is the wallet. I don’t use the charger so I think it’s the wallet. I’m able to wipe it off. But it’s still crappy that it happens.

Wow I didn’t know the wallet itself would do that. I figured the MagSafe charger could, since we’re apparently beta testing it. But the wallet is surpassing. That sucks.

I checked mine and the ring on my leather case disappears when I wipe it over. Leather cream seems to keep it at bay. Checked the back of the phone and no ring.
I am now using a thin face mask between the phone and charger works wonders. No ring on the leather case

Nice workaround! What do you suppose it might be, that you’re wiping off? I’m no magnetician, but I keep wondering what that could be. If it’s very thin layers of the case material then over time it will be noticeably thinner and discolored. But if somehow it’s just some dust (also not a dustologist), then it’s really no big deal. Although it’s also causing rings on the phone itself...so who knows?

I am using the clear MagSafe case I certainly doubt that a ring is forming on the phone through that case.

One theory about the ring may be that it is minute metallic dust particles that collect and are held there by the magnet. Maybe a magnet with opposite polarity could remove the ring.

get some felt or leather with adhesive back and line the outside aluminum ring of it so it doesn't sit on the charger so hard. It will still attach to it just less. Ive been doing this after I noticed the ring after the first or second charge and this has eliminated it. I am case less though but I imagine it will help.

I am not sure what it is. I think it is either a discolouration of the case due to heat which without treatment of leather will become permanent or it’s a combination of the ring on the MagSafe charger and the magnetic ring inside the case plus the weight of the phone squashing the case causing an imprint. Isoumd be interested to know how guys with the Pro Max are doing as that is a much heavier phone than the Pro
