I can’t fathom paying that much for a phone with only 64gb. 256gb would be ideal for a happy/medium. Apple should offer 128gb standard instead of that measly 64gb. But, they won’t since the 64gb seems to sell well for them regardless of price.

the biggest criticism i have for apple is they are the only one charging 1k for a phone and it comes with 64gb, based on industry average them adding another 64gb wouldn't cost more than 10 bucks.

Quick question: If you turn on “optimize photos” does it put your 4K videos there as well, thus saving that space on your phone? I have unlimited data but don’t currently use “optimize photos”, but maybe I should. I have the 64G, but would like to use 4K for videos, currently videos are set to 1080/60. It seems I’m always in a place where I get good data coverage.

i think optimized photo basically change the format for HEIC or something. you retain all the quality but at a smaller size. idk i'm not too well versed in this so someone else should explain it better.

10 x one hundred million iPhones is a lot of profit for Apple

Both Google and Samsung flagship devices are in the same price range. The galaxy fold is at 2k price point by the way.

64GB is fine for me but pretty much everything is in the Cloud as I'm fortunate enough to have good Internet

Great. I lasted two years with my 64GB X and had 48 GB of free space before I traded it in. No need for me to go any higher since I store my pics on google photos, and stream all my music.

I have 14.7Gb used out of 64 so far on my 11 Pro, I always go for the base model as I never fill it up, my photos/videos get transferred to my NAS as soon as possible so no need for huge storage, though I do think the base model should have more than 64Gb.

This is really a strategic move from Apple to push for the wireless future and also to encourage heavy users to go for the 256GB model. In reality, average users don’t really need anything more than 64 GB at present if the use of steaming services are considered.

Because you originally said Apple is the only company to charge 1K for a flagship.

, I said Apple only one charging 1k for 64gb base entry. Then you compared it to Samsung and google, and only Samsung has a phone at 1k price range, where their base mode starts at 128gb

I would say that the Galaxy Fold is in its own market since Apple has nothing like it. Samsung could charge whatever they want and people will still buy it for the early adoption experience.

I have 64gb and use iCloud for photos/videos. Plenty enough for me.

Isn’t that the same for Apple when it comes to the Face ID technology they incorporated with the iPhone X or Touch ID with the iPhone 5S? That level of security and seamless integration with payment system didn’t exist before that in consumer smartphones. All previous implementations by other companies were flawed. So when it comes to pricing I suppose apple was fine to charge whatever they wanted. Why’s it when Apple does something there’s always criticism and when others do it, it’s fine?!

My last phone was 64GB and I only ended up using about half.

Once a month I go through my photo stream, select photos I care about and select to save them on my 256GB ipad. Realistically I haven’t really had to delete photos off my phone either, but some time in the future, I’d imagine 2 years or so, I can mass delete w/o hesitation.

I’m bringing in other things because comparing price of a device with only one metric is myopic to say the least.
