I can't wait till I turn 30 in 2010. Maybe people will take me more serious!
ahhaha. I feel great, lost 75 pounds in the past 3 years, quit smoking, got married, enrolled in college this year, things are nice right now. (check out my website in my sig for pics of my weight loss)

Mainly I run 3 miles a day and do light weight training. Usually I do this like 4 times a week, I am hoping that if I keep it up I will stay healthy. I also went vegan (I take vitamins too : ) ) like 6 months ago. I want to graduate college and then possibly go for another degree, and be 35ish when I have a kid.
My wife is only 22 so this would work. We've been together 5 years too.

Keep it up and when you're my age no one will believe you're 42, and if you ever get divorced, people will still want to sleep with you. ;)

Its not, thankfully. :D I hope when I am middle aged I have traveled most of the continents though and not have much less to accomplish, ill probably lose my mind sometime around that point... oh wait :)

I remember being 21 and thinking 28 was OLD. Now I'm 56 and feel in excellent shape.

Still take the stairs 2 at a time...
Can do 80 pushups. (record was 140 when I was in my early 20s)
Can do 25 pull ups. (equals what I did in my early 20s)
Love using the elliptical at the gym for an hour. (iPod Touch keeps me sane)

Never smoked, don't drink much.

I feel like I'm 30. Brain is still sharp (of course if it wasn't how would I know)?

Edit: Don't need Viagra, never tried it. I'm married but I'm not dead. As you age your view of the opposite sex will also... I find women my own age attractive. The young ones, my daughter is 22; I look at the young ones as children... I have no interest in them at all.

I can live a long time... if cancer doesn't get me.

"Together" doesn't necessarily mean "married" ;)

After hitting 26 last month, I am getting this dreadful feeling that while yes I'm still young, it's gonna dry up fast.

I *really* gotta start hitting the gym and eating right, I want to be one of the people who says "50? ****, I'm in better shape now than I was back when I was 20!"

Fortunately (?) that's probably not too hard to accomplish...

You say that now. Wait about 10-15 years and then let's see if you make the same statement.

Very appropriate thread.

In March I quit smoking, sold my car in April and bought a bicycle. Despite all the cycling I gained 20 pounds in the first six weeks and then started getting terrible heart burn, surprise, surprise! Went to a dietician and took a good hard look at my diet and realized that although generally I ate well, my salt and sugar consumption was through the roof. Cut that back and my blood pressure dropped and the heartburn/acid reflux disappeared. I've lost 10 of the 20 pounds and should be at normal by the end of February.

I guess I had my middle age craziness in my 30s and have now settled into a nice easy cruising speed and I look and feel pretty good for 47. I envy those who never picked up any bad habits early in life. It's really tough to get rid of them later on.

My Dad's mother lived until she was 98, her younger brother died last Sunday, he was 99, she had two other brothers who also reached their 90s and none of her brothers lived clean lives so, there's hope for a healthy old age! Well, until I look at my Mom's side of the family. One side dies in their 50s although the other side generally lasts into their 80s.

I'm still waiting to hear about some awesome midlife crisis experiences. I need some good ideas. :p

I really haven't had one. I had a few funky months after turning 40, but it really was more trying to figure out what direction I wanted to take my life. And it wasn't that bad at all, TBH.

It is if you start young and make it a life habit.

I think what he meant is there are a ton of things that can stop you. I was incredibly fit for the first half of my life and just "knew" I was going to be running races at 70. Then illness and injury wiped that possibility right off the map. No matter how studly you think you are it only takes ONE thing to derail you for life. I am not saying don't live well...just don't take it for granted.

This is true. I have pretty bad arthritis in both knees from years of running and dance. I can't do either anymore, so now I just lift. That does the trick.

I have a great great aunt who lived to 108. Must be something in the genes.

Your lucky indeed, the greys are coming out at 49 but I do contribute it to my current job. Things dont work as well as they use to, aches and pains seem to be easier to create. Lets face it though after 50 its downhill. Happy to be here.:)

Exactly. I used to run 8 miles a day in my 30's. But then I got plantar fasciitis, and I was never able to get back to that again. A divorce, which from the stress caused me to take up smoking again later didn't help (I know, no excuse).

I meant that line to be a half-joke - I'm in a horrible shape right now, that's why I said it's probably not that hard to be in a better shape than I am right now. :)
