I'm curious as to see how Tesco Mobile are going to play this as unlike any other operator they have tethering completely disabled, with no option to even pay for a bundle.

However I'm sure there would be a fair few iPhone owners disappointed if they don't do something around Wireless Hotspot, me included.

Being based on o2's network, some changes may be needed to get to that point. A Phone call there way may be needed after Friday, to see what's going to happen?

having a quick read up on other sites there is no reason to be charged anything,

On Voda for example no other phone is charged extra to tether its just the iPhone, reason is it uses a different APN for tethering than standard data. Thats the carriers choice and doesn't have to happen (as with three) seems a simple call and complain will get them to give it for free so I will be on the phone in the morning and expect to have free tethering......can't see why I should pay for something someone with a android gets for free?

Since they didn't know their backsides from their elbows when I was with them during 2010, I would assume they'll stick with their normal cut-price "we don't support that".

Three have just announced all you can eat data on payg if you buy a £15 or £25 add on. Pretty awesome deal by the looks of things and beats their own £15 30 day sim only deal that I was going to move to. I have read though that tethering isn't allowed on oayg even though it's all you can eat data (so it is not like the One Plan) so it will be interesting to see if they actively block it or whether they just advice against it. For the very seldom tetherer like me I really like how Three do not charge for light tethering and I hope they continue with that

Thank you for that information! I signed up for a 24 month plan and received the phone today, but I've cancelled it in order to go with PAYG instead. I hate those long contracts, especially with a company that doesn't seem completely trustworthy in terms of service, but I wanted to the unlimited data and was going to put up with the commitment just to have the data. The new PAYG deal is perfect for me except for the tethering limitation. I'll try it for a while and then re-assess.

I can't see the personal hotspot on two phones I have access to, one O2 and one Orange?

Is it meant to appear in the settings?

I have tried it with Wifi on and Wifi off, and still nothing? :)

Settings -> General -> Network, is it showing up there?

With Orange and O2 I believe you need to sign up and pay for their tethering packages before you can use the hotspot function...sorry.
