How likely will the next iPhone have better battery life?

I can almost guarantee better battery life. One thing about Apple is that they stay improving and they understand the battery is an issue so they will continue to work on it.

yes it will have a better battery. But with new features and capabilities the actual battery life may end up being approximately the same. Don't expect leaps and bounds.
They will update the battery, but the question is whether the new features and updates cause a bigger strain on the battery. If this is the case, a better battery could still result in a similar or lesser battery life. Let's hope this is not the case though.

Well, it will be better, but based on what I read around here, people get between 15 - 48 hours of life just based on their own personal usage patterns.
So let's say they improve it 30%. (That would be huge.) Well, the 15 hour guy is up to almost 20 hours of life.
That's great, but he's still going to be complaining about the guy that's now getting over 60 hours.
So, you know, there's not much Apple can do about that.
Because the voice dialing, video recording, and magnetometer features weren't enough to convince you?

How about this cookie? Those were all on the iPhone 3G, meaning....can you guess it? Yes, it will probably just come out on the iPhone 3G.

This is my opinion.
I have no doubt that Apple will release a new iPhone, just not in June. They might announce a new iPhone in June, but I hardly doubt that the new iPhone will for sure be released this summer. Maybe by 2010.
Definitely! If not a different physical battery than the current generation iPhones have, the hardware inside the iPhone would be more efficient resulting in a longer battery life. Go Apple! 
Let's do it then. I will bet you that Apple will announce their 'new' iPhone in June, but it won't be released until after September.
Apple has a lot of momentum with the iPhone... Much higher than any other smartphone on the market. Maybe Apple will delay the next generation iPhone till late '09 early '10? Hope not, but maybe.

It's already utilised! What Apple did with the 17" MBP is deprived the user from the functionality of having a removable battery so that they could insert a bigger "permanent" battery.
So you went from no new iPhone in June, to new iPhone in June but not released until Sept?
He only said that there are no hard evidences not that it is not going to be released in June. Jeez calm down!
Not that I'm aware of. All they did is just cram a bigger battery in there and crammed the cells in such a way to avoid wastage of space.
I think there will be a big improvement in battery life as this is one of the weakest areas regarding the iPhone IMO.
