So you went from no new iPhone in June, to new iPhone in June but not released until Sept?

You aren't the best at reading comprehension are you?

I said there wasn't any hard evidence on a new iPhone being released in June, not that it would never happen. Try to keep up Smithy.

Better Battery

I would hope if a new model is released and new battery would be inside that would be an improvement over the current one. I do get annoyed by the fact everywhere I go I need a charger close by. It would be nice to have a battery that would last for 48 hours. (minus our personal use habits)

How about this cookie? Those were all on the iPhone 3G, meaning....can you guess it? Yes, it will probably just come out on the iPhone 3G.

I swear some people on here can't see the forrest through the trees...

I do not believe any current iPhones have a compass (magnetometer)

I don't get it. My Iphone is at least 2 days on standby, i play a lot, i use safari a lot, 3g is always on, wireless too. perhaps it's because i don't leave the phone in my pocket and it stays cooler on the desk.
i would be happy if the new phone had at least the same battery life as the 3g

Do you have a lot of apps? Also certain apps seems to drain battery power more so than others.

100%, guaranteed they will improve battery life.

It was one of the first things they presented.

I have no issues with battery life, usually at the end of the day I have virtuallly a full battery. They have definetly improved it in the last few updates.

When you think apple have only been making mobile phones for three years and Nokia and others have beenn 15-20 years then its satggering the progress they have made.

Think what it will be like in a few years time.

5 full pages of all kinds of apps. i use beatmaker a lot, that should be one of those that really drains a lot of energy so...
ah heck, yes i want better battery life, one week without charging would be nice, but i don't expect it to be realistic.

yes it will have a better battery. But with new features and capabilities the actual battery life may end up being approximately the same. Don't expect leaps and bounds.
You took the words out of my mouth.

One year in battery technology is a long time for improvement so the battery will definitely be improved or have more capacity if you will.

The problem with new features, such as video, is that they will demand more energy. Video, GPS, compass, etc. are all energy draining applications.

It's already utilised! What Apple did with the 17" MBP is deprived the user from the functionality of having a removable battery so that they could insert a bigger "permanent" battery.

Yeah, there wasn't "new tech" so much in the 17" than the space saved by taking out all the parts for a removable battery gave them room to put in a bigger one.

to be fair ..... It's more of a "new process" (which is still "tech") than a breakthrough new battery methodology to power laptops.

It's as new of tech as the unibody build process - which is indeed 'new tech'. My 2 cents.

They also added a chip to manage the charge of all the cells. Which really prolonged the whole life of the battery.
