I need at least 6 hours a night or I cant make it the next day! Im sure I could but its psychological, I get to a certain time say 2-3 in the morning and I hit a brick wall.

I have gone around 90 hours when I was 19 while studying for exams. I....uh....didn't do very well on those exams. :p

I often stay up for 24 hours, and can go 36 +.
I heard for every hour less than 8 you sleep, it takes 2 years off your life.:p

This is based on lifetime averages.
If you average 6 hours of sleep per night for your life, you will die 4 years early. You must not sleep much!

It depends.
I remember during my intern year, I did regular 54 hour shifts in the hospital without sleep.
You're kinda buzzing at the end of it but in reality you want to just collapse.

Yes. You get the sleep you are issued, and learn to do more with less.

Did you hear the rather old story of the GI standing guard? He was leaning up against a tree or a wall or something, bored, tired, middle of the night. Still standing, his head dropped to his chest and he fell asleep. About then the LT walks up, sees the GI looking asleep, and goes toe-to-toe with him and says, "AHEM". Without missing a beat, the sleeping soldier raises his head and says, "Amen. Can I help you Sir?"

As the story goes, he got away with it.:D†

2.5 days (kinda comes with the territory in college)...then the headaches and slowwwed reaction time kicks in.

I'm guessing this question stems from the new season of Dexter
