How long do you intend on keeping your rMB 1st gen?

Really surprised that 50% of us plan to keep only 1-2 years... maybe its because most people on here upgrade more often? early adopters etc?
was it the same with the first macbook air?

People on here are probably not the typical users.
(I suspect we have more money than the average consumer).
I bought the originals MBA and upgraded in 2010. I can see myself repeating that cycle.

I'd hope not, really. I can only imagine how poorly the GUI would run, even with 5 years of improvements to the GPU. :\

Five years is a very long time from a technology standpoint.
Just think how far the iPhone's GPU has come in five years.

Mostly using mine for iWork, Web browsing, Netflix, Spotify among other not particularly demanding tasks. It seems zippier than my 2010 Macbook Pro, so I'll be using it until it can't do any of the above tasks.

Yeah, but also look at the fact that we still have some UI lag on the rMBP at this point. It isn't just pure power I'm worried about.

I will wait to judge it until I see my own rMB.
A 5K rMB will someday exist, no doubt about that. Will it in 5 years, I don't know.
Not to get too ahead of myself, though. I think that I will be very happy with my first generation rMB.
