I bought the original model MBP in 2006 and have still got it.

It's a bit long in the tooth though now so I recently bought a new 13" retina MBP for when I need a bit more grunt. I should get a few years use out of that before my next upgrade. :)

I have a mid-2012 MBP 13". It is serving me good so far, although I'm considering RAM and SSD upgrades very soon.

I intend to keep it at least 4 years, perhaps more if I do upgrade my current machine with RAM/SSD. But it'll probably just depend on when I can buy my next machine: I'm very fond of the 13" rMBPs. :D

Mine lasted from late 2008 until late 2012. went from using 10.5.5 on it right up to 10.8.

in july 2012 it crapped out and i had to replace the logic board. on christmas day 2012 it stopped charging altogether so just accepted that it was time to let it go. i wasn't prepared to pay for repairs so just got a cheap windows laptop.

plan on returning to macbook pro. making do with my cheap windows 8.1 laptop. ill wait for a refresh of the current RMBP before buying.

I bought my MBPro in April of 2010.

It still runs fine, actually better than new since I replaced the original HDD with an SSD.
It may need a new battery within the next year or two.

I'm hoping for 6+ years of use, but I'll probably keep using it until it expires...

I have a late 2011 MBP, I hope to use it another 2-3 years. I think it might die before it's "outdated" due to the annoying AMD GPU issue (which I haven't had a problem with so far, knock on wood). We'll see how it goes, but it's been going strong since I got it. I threw a 512 GB Samsung SSD in it and updated the RAM to 16 GB. It's very fast and handles everything I need very well.

I guess the big reason I'd want to update sooner than later would be to get the Retina screen that are in the new MBP's, but I'm good for now.

I am on my 3rd since 2007. My first 2 are still in use by others. I had my first one for 5 years and my 2nd for 2. I upgraded my 2nd one mainly for the storage as it was part of my cable-cord-cutting strategy. More than likely this will be my last laptop though I do plan on keeping it for a good 5 years at least. I spend most of my time on my iPad. So when it's time to upgrade my MBP I will likely get an iMac.
