Most likely the first half of next year. In January, it will have been a year since the last memory boost. Considering the relatively low amount of storage (if you owned any of the iPod Classics with video), this would be a semi-long time to wait for a boost. Of course this depends on a 32GB flash module being developed that fits in the hole available in the iPhone.
I also have no clue what the poster who mentioned iPod sales was talking about. The click-wheel iPod will probably become history by 2010, with all iPods (except the Shuffle) adding touch screens. The iPod Touch may or may not have a version with a HDD, but this is the future so Apple can make a killing on the App Store.
