DevTeam Blog hasn't been updated in ages, and when there's "News" that's about the last place it gets posted. Dev Team twitter is a great source, as is comex, saurek, and geohot, as they all are quick to post any jailbreak related news, regardless if they're involved or not :)

Thank you el-John for the mature and professional reply, much appreciated.

I will wait until their is an untethered jailbreak for 4.3 until I buy the iPhone4...but then again if the iPhone5 is just a couple months away by that time, I will just wait for the i5, it should have features included by default that "cydia" has, or at least I hope Apple wakes up, and changes the stale phone already, and finally officially adds widgets, and notifications as a standard on the iPhone.

No guarantees that Verizon will get the iPhone 5 right away. They have declined comment. There is a good chance it will be delayed, just because Apple doesn't have an exclusivity contract with AT&T doesn't mean they don't have a "we get it first" contract. At the very least, there may be design issues with CDMA (since they JUST got the CDMA iPhone out), so even though a GSM iPhone 5 would be ready to ship, a CDMA model might not be. Apple isn't likely going to hold off on millions of sales so they can cater to what will, initially be the minority market.

Also, everyone that keeps calling his question impossible, take a breath, get a sip of coffee, come back to the computer, and think for a minute. There are tons of legitimate answers to this question, including the jailbreak trends, how long it usually takes, the challenges hackers will have, etc. He's not asking for a specific date, just a general idea, it's a very reasonable question. It would be like someone asking you when the iPhone 5 was going to come out. You couldn't say for sure, but your response would probably be "Most likely in June sometime", just like our response to a verizon jailbreak could be "Most likely a few weeks to a couple of months after it's been released".

Sheesh, makes you wonder if some of these people need some Prozac or something. I'd hate to go to a mechanic with a problem I was unfamiliar with and get laughed out of the place, not everyone is an expert!

Geohot isn't actually on twitter. Glad to see yet another person has been fooled into thinking they were following him on twitter. Let me guess, @GeohotUS?

Sorry I should have clarified:

Geohot is facebook
Comex is twitter and facebook
Dev Team is twitter
Saurik is twitter

Sorry for the lack of clarification, didn't mean to mislead.

No one here knows when the next untethered jb will be out and there are no 'jailbreak trends'. Each jb is unique and more important, getting it to be untethered, as the current situation shows, can take even longer.

To use your automotive analogy;

Using past jailbreaks to guess when the next one will come out is like guessing how long your next trip will be based on the last trip you took or taking your car to a mechanic, telling them it's making a funny noise then asking when your car will be fixed and how much it will cost. "Well, the last time my car made a funny noise, it took 2 days and cost $400, so this funny noise should take as long and cost the same."

Guessing when a jb will come out does nothing but set unrealistic expectations and guarantee that in 'Guess - 1 week' the same person who asked the question will be back asking "Where's the jb?"

If I dump Android, and come back to Apple, first time since my iPhone1, I like the idea of Jailbreaking, to add widgets and notifications to make the iPhone4 much better than the boring and dated stock version.

I would go for the Verizon version, but approx how long will we have to wait for a untethered jailbreak to come out for the V-i4 ?

really? someone please close this thread:confused::confused::confused:

Legitimate question... These forums are called MacRUMORS. Would you like me to explain the definition of rumors for you? This guy is just asking for a speculation of when the newest JB will be available for a Verizon iphone.A bunch of other Verizon customers probably have the same question when thinking of the iP4.

My SPECULATION would be that a JB would not be too far away. Looking at past surveys and charts that have been done show great interest in the new Verizon iphone. It wouldn't be too hard to guess that because of this, more hackers would hit the scene trying to JB the iPhone. Increasing the chances of a JB sooner.

My guess would be a JB would be available sooner than we think.

Good prediction, seems to hold true historically. I'm not too optimistic tho since they said the same thing basically at pre-xmas, post-xmas, new years, and early jan :-(

How about we all wait until geoh0t or the dev team gets their hands on one first?

Thank you. This a "rumor" forum I thought, we speculate about what might possibly come out. At XDA Developers, posts like this come out all the time, and everyone replies with their best educated guesses as to what to expect, and gives their own incite, etc...
