Maybe they will scrap the standalone and just have integrated across the board? Just an idea.

I have an Apple Alu Display which I find simply beautiful... I'd hate it if they screwed those wonderful displays with a built-in iSight...
Plus, I find built-in cameras extremely uncomfortable... I had one on an old Sony lappy I had and really it was a nightmare to get the picture right.. Not to mention the fact that they make your face look ackward :p

I'm sure the new updated iSight's will come with the next coming of Apple Hardware which will probably be at the 30 year anniversary.....

And its almost a certainty that the new iSights will be USB2.....Sad but true

I really hope so. Lovely if they can aslo act as IR receivers as well for the remotes for those of us without the latest tech.

i think a better question is when will apple release a cheaper isight, $129 is too much. all that makes me want to do is look to logitech for a solution.

The isight has been around for too long. Not a single revision to the original, other than to add magnetic bases, i believe. But it's too bad, Steve's "Year of HD" has passed with dissapointment.

I really hope they don't put integrated iSights into the ACDs. I think its great in laptops and the iMacs but I'd hate to have one on an ACD and I really don't think they'll go that way.
They should hopefully release new iSights relatively soon with an in-built ir receiver. Front Row should be standard on all macs imo. I love the current iSight design, its simply beautiful. But if they want to make it smaller and give it higher specs then so be it! As far as USB or Firewire go well it really doesn't matter. I'd rather it be Firewire but with the way things are going with that stuff it'll be extinct in the next five years. I always hoped Firewire would win the battle but alas it doesn't seem to be so.
