I am not a new customer, but I think it is still unfair. However, there are so many conflicting stories that I am not sure AT&T knows what is going on.

I am most likely going to get the white one. I can say black all I want, but from past experiences, I have think history will be repeated. I actually was set on the black iPhone 3G, but when the guy asked me before I paid which one I wanted, I said white.

Yeah the white one after looking at it for a while seems like the right choice, noted that i had a black iPhone 3G and always loved the black, the white looks just too good here :D

I waited in line for the 3GS last year. I live on Long Island, NY. At the time the doors opened there were probably around 250 people in line.

I anticipate this launch being much much bigger, so I'm going to expect lines in my area to be around 400 people.

just a guess though. hope this helps a little

This question can not really be answered. What is the point in asking how one's purchase went when it is different for everyone and everything is unpredictable?

You are still missing the point. Last year's lines have nothing to do with this year's lines. Some of the people who had the iPhone 3G were not eligible to upgrade and either had to pay the higher price or not buy it. If you did not buy it, then that would mean they are eligible now.

That's the most accurate information that we have.

Thank you!! That's what I was waiting for. I was just wondering what people thought. I didn't need Tara the lard to bud in and see it's unpredictable. Obviously I know that, that's common sense. I was just wondering what people encountered when they went.

How the hell do you expect the number of people who waited on a 3Gs in Long Island last year help you predict the length of the line for the 4G in Fresno?!?!

On 24th June, there will be two lines: RESERVE and NON-RESERVE. The former will be much shorter. So what you should do is reserve iPhone on 15th June for a pick-up and on launch day wait in the shortest line.

I honestly feel as if AT&T is wanting this option to happen. They are making reserved people wait an extra day for what reason? I know that they have t receive their stock, but I believe if Apple can ship all these phones to be delivered on launch day, they can ship them to AT&T early as well.

AT&T probably just want to make it so people will wait outside their doors.

AT&T will be delivering i4s on launch day. The only ones who have to wait are the ones who preordered to pick up at the store. This is all per http://www.att.com/Common/about_us/files/iphone/preorder_fact_sheet_ip4.pdf

Yeah, but from what I heard last year's AT&T delivery was not that much on time.

However, just to clarify I meant in reference to the one household and not being able to add a line to an existing plan and all that nonsense. :D

Gotcha. That is why I will be preordering with Apple and not AT&T. I can just imagine the threads now if AT&T doesn't deliver on the 24th.

While we'll never know for sure we can extrapolate based on the past three years.

I think to be fair, you can really only go by the launch of the iPhone 3GS because for the other iPhones, you were not given the option of pre-ordering or even ordering online really (I think) or it being sold by stores other than Apple and AT&T.

EDIT: Sorry Geckotek! I was typing when you posted!

Well that's good that you got the answers you were looking for. Are you planning on shopping at this Long Island location now instead of Fresno? If not, you might find that this information is not quite as accurate as the information that Tara kindly provided for you.

On a side note, I was thinking about ordering Fettuccine Alfredo from Olive Garden for lunch, but I need to know how many strands of fettuccine I can expect to receive on my plate before I order.

Approximately more than 12 and less than 47. Quality control just isn't what it used to be.

Ok, it really depends on your location which depends on how much traffic it can receive. Expect Apple stores to have lines of more than 75 per store. My local apple is in the suburbs yet reached 200 people on 3G day and 100 on 3GS.

Based on the 3G number and because of the 2 year contract, I expect more people this year because of the people who skipped out on the 3GS.

No need, good response. I'll go further, we now have Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, and Best Buy added to the mix. Too many new variables.

I hate Wal-Mart. I made a vow to myself not to go there anymore ever since their confusing remodel. They moved everything to weird places (at least in my town store) and now I have to walk like a mile to get to the $1.00 candy!!! This affects my movie theater time!! :D

(Apple/AT&T Store Door)|1----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------That Long. :)

Hahaha! I like that answer ;)

Seriously people- if you're worried about long lines and don't want to stress over it, get it DELIVERED to your house by Apple. Why is this so difficult for everyone? There will be lines, there always are.

Where does it say that you can pre order only 1 per household? I also need two but never read anything about the 1 per household,, if u could provide a link that'd be great,

Thanks!!

On a related note, modmyi.com is also reporting that AT&T corporate stores are set to open at 7AM on the 24th, iPhone 4 launch day, though we're not able to confirm this one. Word on the street is that new customers will only be able to activate one line and existing customers will be able to buy one iPhone 4 per line of service, clearly an attempt to stretch inventory as far as it'll go. With the way Apple's setting up for preorders and launch-day delivery, it seems like a lot of this chaos and bedlam is going to be avoided -- but hey, it's Apple. You never know.

Haha, i'm adding a line and upgrading another on my family plan. Two for me!

I called apple care and they said that if you pre order it you will get it on the 24th the same day it is in stores. Pre order is DONE and DONE.
