The only waiting will be me at home waiting for the FedEx/UPS/DHL guy to deliver it. Those lines are for nerds that are meeting their nerd buddies out in public to see what an actual girl looks like.

So your claim is that NERD = A person out in public talking to friends and that a COOL PERSON = Sitting at home alone, waiting for an internet/video game device.

I don't think you have your stereotypes correct.

wow I think this thread breaks a record for the earliest "how should I wait in line" thread....... usually you see these start popping up 1 or 2 weeks before a release.

Based on a complicated algorithm, I can't tell to much about... and taking the average length of previous iPhone lineups, the expected increase of iPhone customer base, the factor of anticipation and integrating the symptomatic factor of energy levels calculated with a reasonable accuracy using the Einstein-Brillouin-Keller method I have computed that the line for iPhone5 will be 347 meters at the point of Opening Time T-2hrs at the Lagrangian point of the Apple store in Perth in relation to Woolworth's in the City...

I am waiting for the version/AT&T suck threads started on first preorder issues follow by activation issues.
At&T getting more complaints about activations but I blame apple completely on that part because they make user get a new sim card instead of following the standards of reusing the old sim card.
The system was never design to be slammed like that.

So, what's that? 5 people? 6 max?

I waited in line for the iPad 2 which was my first iOS device and was really shocked by how many people showed up. I heard iPhone launches are much worse. How long in advance do you people usually get in line? Should I just go to Best Buy since their lines will be much shorter?

There will be exactly one man and a gerbil in line.

Oh haven't calculated that yet..

But it wouldn't be a difficult calculation using other complicated algorithm... Length of the line (347 m), width of the pathway (3.5m), average surface taken by iPhone user in line ups, adjustment for support base increase variation, personal space reciprocator...

I reckon, be it a rough guess... about 1000 people.. at T-2hrs....

It all depends on the orbit of Mercury in relation to the galaxy M4357 though...

the scalpers are ready to pounce ... no matter how early you try to line up the lines will be all scalpers at the front

I think I have found an error in your math. You forgot to take into account gravitational forces.

Plus, given every user takes about 3 meters, and there's 347m of line, that equals about 115 people :p
