I got my Ultra last week and I really love it. I don't know what to do with my AW6. I asked my wife and she said no need. (She doesn't like watches that's why I had to give away her AWSE last year).

Those who own an Ultra and other AW, how long are you planning to use your Ultra? Do you still use your old AW? I read somewhere that some use older AW as a sleep tracker. When you use the other watch, do you switch off the Ultra or vise-versa?

I generally wear my S8 at night and my Ultra during the day (not comfortable for me to sleep with), and turn off the watch I’m not wearing (assume it’s better for battery health in the long run). I’ll keep both for at least another year, and maybe longer 🙃

I've been alternating between my Series 7 Titanium and Ultra, depending on which one needs charging. Either way, I have an Apple Watch on my wrist at all times. Been trying to try different bands on the Ultra from the green Alpine loop that came with it. I have a black/orange trail loop on order since launch day, but still says shipping late November.

I sold my Series 6 when I received the Ultra. I wear it 23.5 hrs a day (the remaining 30min it is charging while I get ready in the morning). I keep Apple watches 2-5 years depending battery life and what innovation is being presented in a new model. I can see the AW to stay with me for a long time.

I use my aw7 for working out and ultra the rest of the day. Didn’t want to keep changing bands on the ultra.

It’s gonna take something really big for me to upgrade. Since the Ultra, all I’m doing on the phone is Web / ebooks / camera; everything else is on the watch.

As to what would be really big … I don’t have hypertension nor diabetes; as cool as blood pressure and glucose monitoring would be, that’s not likely to be enough to get me to upgrade — at least, not by itself.

The addition of cameras … that might do it. And, while one under the display for Dick Tracy’s style of video watch would be cool, that probably wouldn’t be enough. But put one on the side so you can hold your wrist level and use the display as a viewfinder, Brownie-style … especially if it included a document scanning mode, that would definitely do it for me.

Otherwise, I’m hanging on to it until the bittersweet end. I expect it to stop getting software support from Apple before it physically dies; if, by then, somebody’s ported Linux to it, I’ll probably move to that.

Yeah.. ultra is a bit uncomfortable to sleep with. Wish there was automation to control functions on Apple watch.

Just a question.. What I have noticed with my watches, that when they are charging, and I move towards it to pick up the display turns on automatically. Something like the watch knows that I'm coming towards it. Is there any sensor that can sense the movement? As the floor is wooden, minute movements can occur when you walk on it. AW6 have always done it and Ultra do the same.

I bought my S4 in early 2019, and sold it when I got the Ultra. I imagine I’ll keep this at least that long.

I loved the Ultra when I got it but returned after only a few weeks as it was a bit larger than what I wanted to put up with. Worst is a few weeks later, I bought another because I wanted it so bad but after a few days I remember why I returned the first. I just returned my 2nd one.

Back to my Series 7 SBTi which I like very much. It will be the first year I have not replaced my Apple Watch. Disappointed they discontinued the Edition Series.

Exchanged S5 Wi-Fi for the Ultra. Mainly for the 1.5 days all cellular or 3 days with the phone on me battery life.

So will keep the Ultra for 3 years minimum if the battery holds out.

I sold my SS Series 7 when I got the Ultra. I will most likely keep this Ultra for 2 years aas I do not anticipate a reason to get a new one next year. This is by far my favorite Apple Watch I have ever owned.

I decided to try again for the Ultra and it arrived today! I may use my series 8 for sleep tracking and the Ultra for day use. So excited. This time I will give it more of a chance!

Never again will I wear regular AW. That thing is dead to me. Ultra all the way until Ultra Pro comes out.

From consumer behavior perspective, I'd say most Ultra owners would be yearly-2 years upgraders. There are those who use the Ultra at its limit and thus will probably upgrade in 1 or 2 years due to battery degradation and physical damages. And the others are those who simply must have the most expensive and latest Apple watch. They will be upgrading yearly, or whenever Apple's refresh cycle for the Ultra will be.

Kind of expensive for a disposable watch. $18 shy of $1000, with AppleCare and California sales tax
