OK :) The Apple Newton can be considered as a computer.

I never used one so I cannot give you my opinion about it.

So if you reckon that it has been a very handy computer and that you bought it in that aim, please consider it for this thread.

I had many replies to that issue that I would not consider it for this thread. I have been converted to Apple 6 years or so ago so I do not know about the deep history of Apple and it's products.

When creating this thread, I had in mind the computers you can now find on Apple Online Store.

I do not know if this the right place to put this poll. But if it is not, please relocate it to another part of the forum.

I am interested to know : How many Apple Mac computers do you have at home ?

My family and I, we have 2 : 1 MacBook (my wife) and 1 iMac (mine).

We have three. My wife and I each have a macBook Pro and she also has a MacBook

Got 3 Apple computers here.
-brandnew MacPro Xeon 2.8(mine)
-brand new Macbook(mine)

-older macbook (my bros)

I also have an ipod touch, but that doesnt count as a computer.

I find it amusing how many people are trying to count their iPods in order to justify selecting larger integers on the poll.

I've got one. When it breaks, I'll either replace it with another one, or sell it for a more reliable computer--like a Thinkpad.

Back to the long post on the newton. Very informative! I don't know if I'd consider it a full-on computer... but it sounds more capable than most PDAs even today! I never knew it could driver external monitors. I imagine the future of computing will be like that. One iPhone-sized device that can be used on its on with some limits, then you can wirelessly connect it to a mouse and keyboard and perhaps other peripherals (Printers, external hard drives, etc) and to a monitor and then you'd always have your ful lcomputer in your pocket and if you went to work you'd just sync it with the components there, and at like net-cafes they'd just have monitors mice and KBs and you could just wirelessly connect your portable device to it with your own OS apps, and settings...

I won't hold my breath though...

PS: I've got a powerbook 150, and next weekend I'm getting my new mac laptop, either a blackbook or probably an MBP, but I've got a custom Desktop a Dell Optiplex GX270, a Latitude D600, a Dimention 8400, another Optiplex, and maybe one other computer in my house... Yes I know, too many PCs, but three of them were free! And Ubuntu is awesome.

Currently 2, my Macbook C2D SR and my old Powerbook G4.
A guy from work is close to buying the Powerbook from me, though.

well....technically it does...a computer is simply a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions - lol

I also find it amusing that people try to count in there iPod's. Like I said, originaly the iPod is a mobile music/video player. And an iPhone is a mobile phone. You want a Mac computer ? Then you go for a MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro, etc...

Yes, we can argue about the fact that both devices now have more features and come close (actually more advanced) to a PDA type of device. This kind of devices can then be called a mobile computer.

But at the end of the day, if your wife says I want a computer, you think MacBook, not iPod Shuffle.

lol so true. I wonder why people want to count their iPods, iPhones, Newtons(???) They aren't (Mac) computers in the common sense of the word...

Aaaaah, thank you eXan :) One of the few that understood what I meant.

I have 5. I have an old iMac G3 in the garage for playing tunes. PB G4 that I use for surfing on the kitchen counter, iBook G3 in the bedroom that gets very little use and an iMac G5 in the loft, which is my main computer. My trusty first Mac, an SE, sits on a table in the corner of my loft. Sucker still works.

a nice 24" iMac :)
next tot that an iBook to do mac-computing when I'm not at home :)p so does that one still count?)

I also have a Mac SE (which I never use, but I am proud to have one).

One (iMac) at the moment but hopefully in the next 6 months my HTPC will be replaced with a Mini.
