Anybody feel happy those who bought theirs not long ago that theirs stay the latest and greatest?

till next year anyway

I'm glad that my impatience didn't turn out to be a bad thing when I updated to the air 2 a few weeks ago. It's a really fantastic iPad.

Well, not glad, but relieved. I bought my Air 2 in January and I'm perfectly happy with it, not feeling like it is in need of an upgrade (the speakers perhaps). There not being an Air 3 this year removes the temptation to drop money on one just to have the latest model. I do prefer longer release cycles for iPads, because it does suck a little if you buy a new device at a premium price and less than a year later it's already "outdated". This practice discouraged me from buying some other iPad models (I jumped from an iPad 2 to the Air 2, skipping all the short-lived models).

I'm not happy at all. I've waited for almost full year for Air 3. But now it seems like there won't be new Air this year. So disappointed.

As they say, that's the chance you take when you play the waiting game. Play it too long and rather than enjoying a new device you'll be waiting forever.

Buy now, enjoy now.

I bought my Air 2 on Day 1 and enjoyed it every day for an entire year. I have to admit it is a weird feeling that I will use it for one more entire year before it gets updated. I'm too used to having yearly update cycles from Apple.

OK, I admit it - I am. I got a great price on one back in June knowing there was a risk that there'd be an update in September but figured the price was great and I wanted to run the iOS 9 beta. I would be content even if the Air 3 had been introduced but as things worked out I feel borderline brilliant. ;)

Well I like to hand my iPads and iPhones down to my kids. No upgrade means I have no excuse to purchase another iPad ;)

I am.

Weeks ago I planned on getting it but decided to hold off on it in case they updated the line up, they didn't, certainly made my decision easier.

Very happy here too me 5 iPad Air 2 exchange last year for a perfect screen glad I get to run this ipad for 2 years.

Bluetooth 4.2 might not require new hardware, though.

I'm pretty happy they didn't. Best Buy had a $125 off all iPad Air 2 models in July and I was banking on the lack of rumors for an iPad Air 3 for the purchase and it worked out! Anyone out there know if the upgrade to 4.2 is hardware of software related? Thanks!

Apparently, some features such as ‘Privacy’ will be available as firmware updates to existing Bluetooth version 4.0 hardware – where it could be updated to Bluetooth 4.1 specification with a software update. However, higher data transfer and increased packet size could require new hardware.

I see. Thanks for the reply! It is interesting to note that on Apple's website under tech notes it still shows Bluetooth 4.0 for the iPad Air 2. Thoughts? 4.2 could be a typo?

I don't think they had much to upgrade on it other than to an A9 and just that would not have been worth upgrading to.
The mini 4 was really not that much since it just played catch up. But that's fine with me. I was forced to look at the iphone 6 after the drop in price and realized it was just what I really wanted - a super Touch when you order it simless and no contract. When life hands you lemons just throw a lemon party!

Yaayy still loving my Air 2 , I like that it was showcased yet again along side big bro Pro...so really still the swankiest ever:D. I actually don't plan to upgrade until 2017:)

That said I might be swayed by the 2016 release:p.....crossing legs & fingers till then!

I'm glad they didn't bother doing a "major" update, nor did they need too honestly. When it comes to iPads, the Air 2 is the GOAT! It's exactly what I want out of a tablet, and adding 3D Touch, better camera, better internals p, new design, etc.. Can most definitely wait another year or so.

I am glad that they didn't upgrade it, since that means I still have the latest formerly "full-sized" iPad and it runs iOS smoothly. However, I am disappointed that they didn't upgrade it because I can't upgrade my mom's iPad 2 to the Air 2 for $100 cheaper per being a generation behind the would-be Air 3.

Ok, earlier this Summer I had a problem. I wanted to change some personal things in my life, and I was trying to use my iPad2, and I just couldn't anymore. The frustration of the slow iOS8 on it was enough to ruin those moments. And this is a mental thing. I was looking for a solution for my personal problems in life. It was a deliberate choice to wake up early and enjoy the Summer mornings and evenings on the balcony or the garden, or even the park for time lapses, reading, writing, name it. Creative work to relax from various sorts of stress.

So here I was, with a choice. Do I just be a smart fanboy and wait for September/October events and get the new one, or if they don't upgrade it this year, March maybe? Or do I just enjoy life and not care about double the bandwidth or twice the retina or whatever fantastic(al) feature they come up with now? With rumors that the Air 2 wasn't going to get an upgrade, and my frustration of life being as it was for me, and the Summer only having 6 weeks left. I decided to live in the now and man up knowing I go from iPad 2 to iPad Air 2. Who cares if it is Air 3, .. and if the rumor of the Pro was true, I didn't 'need' it, plus, I probably wouldn't even be able to afford it. I would be lucky if I could even put my savings together and ask family to help out to get the Air 2.

I went for it, and after the recent keynote I am glad I did. No upgrade like an Air 3 that makes me regret it, but, seeing the Pro features, I probably wouldn't have regretted it. And the Pro base model was out of my budget, plus I would have wanted it with Pencil and that Keyboard. If I had 1500 euro to spend, I would have invested it in the 5K 2nd gen next year - so for me: I am fine with it.
