How many ARE / HAVE / NEVER been jailbroken?

The main reason i had to jailbreak my iPhone is because i needed to unlock it as apple don't support my country.

Tried a turbosim first which worked great apart from when roaming but the best solution was to jailbreak and unlock.
 
I voted for "no - cause it is dumb/no benefit."

I don't think it is dumb, but for me, the iPhone does what I need it to do without jailbreaking.

Me too. I don't think it's dumb and I'm happy for the people who do it.

But for me it would be a huge waste of time.

Whenever Apple updates anything the number of threads about what jailbreakers should do about it pop up all over the place. I want to use my phone. I don't want to spend hours fiddling with the software every month.

Now, if I got something worthwhile for all that effort then sure, I'd do it. But I don't see anything to justify the time I'd put into it. It's a lot of work for very minimal reward.

As a jailbreaker I can definitely agree with that.
It really depends on the individual as well. I find jailbreaking in the functionality sense great. I also love reading up on the how to's and so on.
I jailbreak phones for my friends and SSH into them if they screw them up. I enjoy spending hours playing with the phone and learning new ways of doing things on the phones.
You can surely jailbreak and spend a minimal amount of time tweaking and still benefit from what jailbreaking offers.
My wifes ipod touch and friends iphone were broken under 2.2.1, and they still are.

Right, exactly. I have no need to own a Playstation either but I totally understand why so many people like them.

People understand having an opinion on Playstations, but when it comes to jailbreaking so many people take the "my way is best" line of thinking. No, whatever you want for yourself is best.

You get it.
 
I got a 3g November 08. I cracked the screen a few months later and at the genius store I was told I had water damage, the warranty was worthless. I got the screen fixed with Missionrepair. Add to this that Slingmedia was barred going to 3g ( after I bought the new solo box to work on 3g) and I thought - what the heck, let's jailbreak. It went smoothly, hasn't failed once, and Slingmedia works perfectly on 3g (IF I can find it) and EDGE is fine most of the time - I use it with WiFi most of the time. I don't watch it all day and haven't tapped 5gig ever. MMS doesn't mean a thing so 3.1 isn't going on my 3g. 3.0 slowed it to a crawl - it was designed for the 3gs cpu and memory anyway. I won't go back unless att/apple block it from working some how. Looking for the Leo to come out and see who gets that. I'm tired of this apple did it, no att did it thing.

Don't have a need.

However, Skype is tempting me to Jailbreak my iPhone.
 
I was jailbroken, but now I'm back to stock. The main reason I jailbroke was because I needed a way to mute my phone when my mute switch broke off. When jailbroken I could do it with a setting in sbsprefs and it was great. I put the phone back to stock at 3.0 and have no real need to return to jailbreak. Now if I really need to be muted, I just turn the phone off... It's actually very freeing to do that! I do miss Cycorder though...
 
Jailbroken and never looked back.

Honestly 3.0.1 32GB Jailbroken iPhone with 6.0 Stealth ipcc (MMS, Tethering, VVM) is about the best Phone you could ever have. The is practically nothing my phone cannot do that another phone can.
 
Well..I jailbroke my 3G iPhone last night. It was much easier than I expected (thanks to a tutorial on cultofmac.com).

I had no idea what I'd been missing out on. iRealSMS, Skype over 3g, tethering, Google Voice (free texting, etc), added video recording capability, backgrounder(!)...plus some very nice cosmetic improvements.

Clearly, I've only scratched the surface. Only now do I see how "jailed" the device truly was....thanks Apple / ATT 🙄
 
I go back and forth on jailbreaking.

I like how quick and smooth the OS is when virgin but there are times when I want to do more than what it can.
 
As soon as there is a jailbreak for 3.1 I plan on doing it. For me the main reason for jailbreaking is running background apps. I pretty much have some sort of music app running at all times on my phone. Not having to stop the music when I go to another app is a "nice" feature I would like. There are other things I have read I can do once jailbroken which I also look forward to.
 
Jailbroken 3gs had a 2g jailbroken as well when first possible. I used my 3g legit after the app store and 2.0. I won't upgrade 3.0 or move away from jailbreak because GriP has completely changed how I feel about the iPhone. Unless apple comes up with a better notificiation I'm on 3.0 jailbroken for a while.

I can understand not JB for personal reasons but to make some of the wildly false statements for reasons as I've seen here is a joke. "I don't have the time"..... LoL, takes 3 minutes to JB a phone.... If you don't have 3 minutes than you have more issues in your life than JB. As far as the threads that pop up r/t apple updates and JB.... anyone that has half a brain in their head know what to do U(or not do) when apple comes out with an update r/t JB. Those that start thread after thread about it are the same one's that start the threads about one of their bottom speakers not working. JB does nothing to mess with the "established specs", any one that says it does either has no clue or is liar. JB does nothing but give you the ability to put "non apple aproved" apps on your phone, it's what you put on your phone that may "slow it down." I had a very moded iPhone next to a stock iPhone and did a video side by side..... the JB i was a bit slower opening some apps.... by a bit I mean 0.5 seconds slower. If half a second is to long to wait refer to my statement above r/t the 3 minute JB process.

To jailbreak or not to jailbreak, that IS the question.... however don't let the fear of the unknown keep you from trying. Don't let the wild accusations some have given for a reason not to JB keep you from trying. It takes 3 minutes, give it a try and mess around. Fresh locked apple firmware is just a restore away.

Jail broken sense the days it took 45 minutes and COULD brick your phone..... Jail broken 3gs sitting by my side. Jail break today, jail break tmr, jail broken forever baby!
 
I had it. It's great and all, being able to customize everything, but I couldn't deal with the lag that came with it. Since then I've switch back to normal boring stuff.

The 3G did lag contrary to what some say.
The 3Gs, honestly, does not display any lag like the 3G.
