Just one. I went from a 2015 MacBook Pro to a 2018 butterfly MacBook Pro. Had it for a year and a half with no issues with the keyboard. Got a 16” when released.

Nice are you enjoying the 16" keyboard that much more tho?

I have the 2019 Air and have had no issues with the keyboard.

2015 12" keyboard failed
2016 13"
2016 15"
2017 13" keyboard failed/replaced
2017 15"
2018 15"

2016 15" (work-issued) - keyboard failed
2017 15" (work-issued) - keyboard failed
2018 15" (personal) - keyboard failed

They're very good laptops, especially the ones from 2018 and later, but the reliability issue is a dealbreaker.

I have had 2 and my wife has had 2.

I don't mind the way they feel, but after 3.5 years my wife's 12" MacBook keyboard did fail and had to be fixed twice.

some 12" MB keyboards have serious mush and feels like less travel than the pro. going from my 12" MB to 13" MBP was nigh and day better, even though Im still annoyed by lack of travel all these years later

1 technically as my wife killed a MBP and needed a replacement so got her a 2019 MBA for Xmas. Already told her the keyboard is likely to die, but at least it's the 'latest' (bad) keyboard variant.

None for me. Not just the keyboard, as except when I'm traveling, my MBP at home office and work office is generally sitting on a stand plugged into a 38" UW display at home, or 2x 27" at work + external KB and trackballs in both locations.

The combination of touch bar w/out physical escape key, lack of a 32GB RAM option, mediocre CPU upgrades (partially on Intel) had me choosing between a new 2016 MBP and instead I bought a lightly used 2015MBP. The subsequent years had nothing I wanted to give Apple $ for until the MPB 16 which I'm typing on now, with my gripes vs the prior years all removed finally.

Watching my wife's MBA carefully, but she's at least better at not eating at her desk, unlike me..maybe it'll help.. :D

I had mine (2018 15”) a year and a half, and had no issues. But a lot of that is probably because I kept it completely spotless. I never let any dust land on it or even used it in a dusty place. I was aware of possible issues when I got it so I treated it very carefully. I would wipe the keyboard with the microfiber cloth and blow it off after every use. Of course I do that with all my laptops, but I was extra paranoid about that one.

I also had AppleCare Plus on it but never needed it.

Zero. Getting a new Air tomorrow coming from a 2010 15” MBP.
Couldn’t buy anything with the butterfly after checking this forum once in a while lol

One, on my 2016 MacBookPro.
I just replaced it with the 16'' and I have to say I really like having the ESC key, but I still need to get used to this new keyboard. It is similar to the one I use on with the Mac Mini, but I find the external keyboard to be slightly better.

I know it gets hate but I absolutely loved the butterfly keyboard. I'm so glad my work laptop still has it.
Same. I have a 2019 13" MBP and I love typing on it. As long as it holds up, I have no issues with the typing experience and think I may actually type faster on it.

None. But my daughter has a 2017 13" nMBP, and though her logic board and screen crapped out on her in less than a year, the keyboard is still going strong.

None. A couple years ago, when Apple was down to selling only one non-butterfly MacBook Pro, I thought: I should future-proof by buying that one (the 2015-era 15"), even if I don't quite need it yet, because having a reliable keyboard (and MagSafe and an escape key and actual ports) was worth the price of not having the newest of the newest of the new. Very glad I did that.

I've had 3

- 2015 12'' Macbook
- 2017 13'' nTB Macbook Pro (work)
- 2018 13'' Macbook Air

All three keyboards work fine. The Air is my favorite (haven't touched the 2019 revision) of the butterfly switch. Though the 12'' is the most shallow, the Pro is the most annoying to type on.

I'm sure the Magic Keyboard is better in terms of feedback and reliability. Next upgrade!
