iMac + iPhone 4 + iPad 2 (on it's way). The perfect combo in my opinion. iMac is in my bedroom, anytime I want to go out to the family room or out on the patio I bring my iPad for browsing the web and all that stuff. And I use my iPhone for basically everything.

Don't know if someone already pointed this out, but you need an iTunes-running computer to initially start up your iPad.

I suppose you could get it activated at an Apple store, but unlikely with the need for updating etc.

I've used Apple laptops since the Duo system and docked or plugged into external monitors. Last year I sold my latest 15" unibody MBP+24" Cinema and went iPad & 27" iMac. I have other workflow HW, but this is my main system, could not be happier. iPad 2 is even better. Other than the kids, I'll probably never purchase another traditional laptop again, and that is saying something since I've owned a gaggle of them in the last ~20 years.

I have a MacBook that acts like an iMac (clamshell mode with a 21.5" monitor) and it rarely leaves the house anymore so my notebook became a portable desktop.

You could update it from a friends computer I supose.

iPad's should compliment a laptop or desktop in my view. They should not / can not subsidies them.

MacBook Air, IPhone 4 & IPad 2.

IMac has been gift to family member. I have an external monitor, keyboard & mouse for dual use of MBA.:D

Most people on these forums have a computer. If you're looking for those without, better to check the non-MR crowd.

My 2007 Santa rosa MacBook pro is going to be sold. The iPad works great when I'm away from the much more powerful desktop...even for a weekend trip / photography. So I'll be down to iPad iPhone desktop.

If apple wants, they should update the iMac and get more of my money before I spend a grand on my desktop pc!

I'm in the too much category.

17 mbp, 24 iMac, mini server, ipad2, 3 iPhones, 2 itouch, 4 atv2's, 2 atv1

And a couple of nano's that I got at conferences that I never use.

2010 macmini(22'' monitor, 3 piece speakers, apple kboard, razer mouse), iphone4, and now ipad2. Oldish PC sitting in the corner looking for a new home for the past year. OH gots a G4 700mhz Emac i am donating to my friend who lost his due to...well it being old. He uses it as a kitchen music point or something, either way I'll be glad it gets turned on at least lol. It runs fine and i hope it gives a few more years of service.

the ipad has replaced what i was using an old powerbook g4 for. internet, mail. i also use it for games and magazine/books. For right now, this is a perfect setup for me. mini for when i need to do something with illustrator or log into work systems, ipad for general internet usage, and iphone for when I'm on the move and need to check/send an email or facebook or whatever. oh and i can make phone calls and send texts :p. In 30 yrs of computer use, i have never been more happy with the gear i have at my personal disposal. It used to be either have a strong home computer or mildly weaker but mobile laptop. Now i have a decent home computer(i dont work at home, so decent), an extremely mobile consumption device for the internet, and a phone that can fill in when neither is available to me.

13' MacBook Pro
10' Msi Wind
9.7' iPad 2 32g
4.3' HTC Evo

I think I'm done with my electronic fix for the time being, well, for now... :D

I have a ridiculous system that I am too reluctant to actually give in to letting go of. I have an i7 iMac at my desk for my heavier usage. My MacBook Pro has become mainly for working in Aperture/Photoshop when I don't feel like sitting at my desk. (I also used to play WoW on it, but quit playing a while ago.) My 11" MacBook Air became my main iTunes and media relay point. I use it to store all my music, etc. and it backs up my iPad 2 (formerly an iPad 1) and both my and my girlfriend's iPhone 4's. I also use it for the majority of my classwork, taking notes in lectures, etc.

For the most part, when I'm bored and am messing around at home, I'm using the iPad. The only time the MacBook Pro gets used anymore is for Aperture/Photoshop, but it really is unnecessary to have both it and the iMac. I used to use it to back up my photos when doing shoots or traveling, but I just use the MacBook Air with an external HD for that now. Basically what I'm coming down to is the MacBook Pro really needs to go, but I'm so reluctant to sell it because I know I'll only get about half of what it cost me.

Sorry for turning this into an Appleholics Anonymous meeting... hahaha

I have a Mac Mini, a Powerbook G4 (yes, please laugh) and hopefully soon an iPad 2. The Powerbook is for work, the Mini is my home machine, and the iPad will mostly be for on-the-go reading and games. I read a lot of scholarly articles on PDF, and neither laptop nor desktop screen is at an ideal angle for reading - I still print them all out, killing several trees a year all by myself. The main purpose of the iPad for me will be to read those articles. It's also more likely to replace my desktop's "fun" purposes (web surfing, etc) than my laptop's work purposes (transcribing video, entering and analyzing data, writing papers) other than reading articles.

I have a Dell desktop, which I use for AutoCad, a Dell Inspiron 8600, a 17" uMBP, 15" uMBP, and a 17" PB G4. The iPad 2 is the new kid on the block, so to speak.

I have a 27" iMac+iphone 4+ipad 2 (coming tomorrow)

I would like to get a macbook air or pro sometime this year hopefully.

13 Mba and ip4...
had a mbp 15 and ipad, and even though mba and ip4 covers everything i find myself missing an ipad so one is on the way

Hey guys,

I was wondering how this breaks down on this forum? How many of you guys who have an iPad 1 or iPad 2 also own a desktop computer? Or a laptop computer?

And how many own a desktop computer, a laptop, and now an iPad?

I'm wondering if you feel you're getting your money's worth will ALL your computer-related technology, or if in using your iPad, you use your desktop or laptop significantly less?

Thanks.

I have a desktop at home
A desktop at work
A laptop I carry around everywhere
An iPhone4
An iPad 1

I love every device that I use
