The hubby and I are sticking with our iPad 1's for now too. The updates just aren't compelling enough this round.

I decided to update because I won my original iPad in a giveaway and so by selling it I'm only paying $150 to upgrade to the 2. Basically I'll have the first two iPad iterations for under $200 out of pocket. Not bad at all

When the iPad 2 was first announced, I decided I wanted it. Since then, I kept going back and forth. Now that it's iPad 2 Day, I'm still undecided. The geek in me wants the better, faster, shinier new iPad. The adult in me says the iPad 1 is still great, and why do you need the next one. I have until 4pm today to decide.

I'm sitting this one out. The iPad 1 is a fantastic device and the only thing which will make me hand over more cash for a new model is a higher resolution display.

This.

I know most won't agree with me but IMO the camera is a gimmick. It doesn't appeal to me.

After thinking about it all day, reading a few more reviews and comments, my decision is to stay with the iPad 1. Bring on the iPad 3! ;)

Sitting it out for this AND the next gen

I really don't see the fascination with constantly upgrading. My iPad is perfectly suitable for my needs AND most who are 'upgrading'. If I want FaceTime I have my iPhone 4 or iMac. I still have a 5G iPod from before they were 'classic' and that still works fine. If iOS 6 is slow on this iPad then I won't install it. I always have either the latest of previous gen iPhone so I can enjoy it that way.

But that's just my thoughts

Well, I shan't be upgrading... I won't use the facetime, or the camera on the back. I'm not convinced that mobile devices like these will need quad cores, and silly spec. I realise that spec is a big dooby dooby to some, but the airs sort of pushed that concern aside. I dread to think what will happen is a pspec war comes into play. Quad cores in mobile phones, etc? Really, even today is it needed, or is it just to look good on paper? That's not quite what they are about, to me. The form factor looks lovely. The size and weight will be nice, but I don't really see me needing the other stuff at all.

I think the iOS updates were more important, to be honest. Airplay, home sharing, and the safari update was got me excited.

Hope everyone who did get one is happy with them as much as I was when I got mine last year. Still, I got an air, so I've sated my appetite for the moment.

So far, I am sitting this one out.

If they had least upped the display or reduced glare, they would have gotten my money.

For now, the smaller size, faster processor, and cameras don't warrant an upgrade.

If I didn't already have an iPad, its great.
But I am happy with my clunky iPad 1.

I'm sticking with my current iPad. Going to be getting a new iMac when they are refreshed instead.

all the excitement today makes it tempting...tempting... tempting...

but....No.

Not worth it.

I'm sticking with my original iPad.

I have an iPhone 4 too... so I don't feel like I'm missing out of some of the enhanced functionality the iPad 2 brings to the original iPad like facetime, dual cameras, or the gyroscope.

Thing is Im actually would never buy an iPad. Just that my dad got 2 free ipads for christmas so I was able to get one. Very lucky, so maybe when the iPad 3 or 4 comes out.

While I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment that iPad3 will be the "real deal" I am bypassing iPad2, I am more than satisfied with the performance of the original. The improvements in iPad2 are not compelling enough for me to fork out the cash.
^couldn't agree more. My selling point was a higher resolution screen. Even if the only addition on the next one is a better screen I will be first in line. :D

So for now....sitting this one out, happy with mine since the new one has the same resolution as mine

If Verizon was offering unlimited data for iPad 2, I'd get one, but since they're not, I'm waiting for the Retina display.

Sitting this one out. Don't see how it's worth it with the same display resolution and only modest speed bump. And now, especially after seeing all the complaints about yellow screens, backlight bleed, grainy photo results, and other imperfections.

I'm hanging tight for iPad 3.

I'll be sitting this one out as well. I have no issues with the first iPad, and the money for a new iPad could pay for a new Mini, if there is a refresh. Please Apple please.

I thought about it and said what the heck, only $5-600 each. So my wife and I each got one. We'll probably pass our original iPads down to family members.

I am. I don't wanna spend $700 every year on the new hotness. Cameras? Not interesting on a tablet. A5? Would be nice, but my A4 didn't get magically slower today. The latest and greatest is always nice, but my iPad still does everything I want it to do, my only reason to upgrade would be to jump up to 64gb, and that's not worth $700 to me. I'll get a new one once they stop making software updates for it.

Def. sitting this one out. I just bought the 64gb iPad 3G with unlimited data plan 6 months ago. I already have the iPhone 4 with unlimited data plan. In the past 6 months I bought the new iMac 27" and the new max'd out 13" MBA. I will be getting the next iPad tho!
