Lol, I walked into a t-mobile store this morning and asked the guy when the new iPhone would be available. No lie, he said the iPhone 7 would not be out till later this year.
I long ago reached the conclusion that no one knows less but pretends to know more than cellular provider in-store CSR's.

I've rarely had a good experience with them (with any carrier), as they usually don't know much, and they usually have sales goals to meet or need commissions.

That's just my experience though. Maybe others' differs.

Time says 20%, BGR says 30%, pocketnow says 40%, CIO says 60%. Pick a web site.

A.
I think the difference is based on usage, and purchasing. The 60% are those who use a 4 inch phone. The 20-30% are those who have bought a 4 inch iPhone in the last year.

I've mentioned the new SE to a number of people who are in the target audience, and not one of them had heard about Apple's updated smaller iPhone.

I think sales will be slow but rise steadily as your average user discovers the SE through a friend or acquaintance, and as people are forced to upgrade from broken/underperforming older phones.

I'd say close to a million but once all the other countries start selling them by end of year it's going to surpass 30 million from 2015. This will be a huge seller for Apple, its the most powerful 4" phone on the market. It will also bring over people from Android who want that smaller form factor but with faster specs.

You should be able to walk into any Apple store in the US and get it day 1 without preordering. It may come down to color and storage size being less available but with this smartphone being available in loads of different countries on day 1, I don't see an issue on release day.

The market is for current 4" owners looking to upgrade, I doubt all that many larger size Iphone users will go to the SE.

Obviously way less than a full September-launched iPhone. It's in a mid-product cycle, it's there just to fill a gap.

No clue how many 5C owners will succumb to the SE, but for me it didn’t take me more time than to watch the keynote and read the specs. Not everyone who has hung onto a 4” iPhone keeps up with keynotes or Mac forums, but even my non-iPhone-owning brother had heard the buzz about the SE release by word of mouth inside 24 hours. So I’ll take a guess there’ll have been 3-5 million people who have ordered an SE by the end of this weekend.

Apparently the space gray 64GB SE was the pick of a lot of people besides me. I should have got up a littler earlier Thursday, as the ship date had slid out already when I ordered mine around 9am. Well so now I have more time to select a case for my SE. I’m not one for those dark cases, I want something jazzy and bright to approximate the 5C’s visibility in my handbag.

I was reluctant to let go of my sturdy 5C but happy to order the SE with “my size” screen, Apple Pay capability and speedier internals. Unlike some posting here about the 5C’s alleged shortcomings, I really loved that steel caged 5C with its bright color and silky finish. But most of all, the 4” screen. The SE saves me from reverting to a dumb phone, which was going to be my desperation move if the 5C croaked before Apple came to its senses and added back a smaller iPhone.

Really I’m almost as excited about the iPhone SE as I was about the original iPhone that I drove 180 miles round trip to get in person back in 2007. I’m letting Apple ship it to me this time but I can hardly wait for it to arrive.

I went for 5-6.9 million, it looks like it's definitely going to be more than that now after seeing how many have sold in china alone.

This is one of those phones that will sell well throughout the year. I
m guessing 5-10 mil first week

I said 13 million.

I'm going from a 6s plus to the SE. I found the design of the 6 series to be unergonomical, slippery and uncomfortable so i'm really happy to be going back to more grippable phone. I also happen to believe the rumors of the 7 series loosing the headphone jack, which is a necessity for me so, SE It is.

I know it's an old thread, but if you had asked when the new, old repackaged phone was coming out, he probably would have said at the end of March?..
