I saw that some people like to use a 15" together with a 12", others get by with just a 13"..and there are also many other combinations (imacs, minis, pros and monitors).

What's yours, how and for what do you use it?

I'm new to mac - 20 months I use a rMBP 13" 2015 which I adore.
I snagged a bargain on a monitor for desktop use (best of all worlds) for only £276.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00WUACDIU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 outstanding monitor IMHO
With this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00YOQYQWY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it 'just works'
......
We have 2 iMacs 21.5" networked in the office since April 2015 and run parallels, the staff love them.
We use W7 in Parallels almost excusively on the iMacs but as I say everyone loves them even though the Mac side may not be used as much.
We all have XP, W7 and W10 in Parallels and very happy.

Looking at a couple of new retina 21.5" iMacs approx March 2017 to add to existing iMacs
VERY happy with mac and Parallels.
The Parallels subscription is a factor but we feel its worth it - Parallels 'remote access' used daily.

I have two on my desk at work (MBP and mini) and a Windows 10 PC. I use them all throughout the day. At home I have a PC and a Macbook Pro.

I have a 2015 5k iMac as my main desktop at home.
A 2013 MacPro 6core at work.
Main laptop was a 2015 retina MacBook but my wife just got me a 2016 13" MBP Touchbar so this will end up being my main on the go machine.

At the office I have around 32 Macs, mix of iMac and Mac Minis but I don't necessarily even touch them anymore unless something happens to one of them.

I just feel fortunate that we need that many now for the employees we have now.
It was too awfully long ago I had 6 total computers at that office counting the office file server and all employees PC's and I was running off of a 2009 Mac Mini with a 17" Dell Monitor.

Ultrafine looks good but if you can snag a Samsung for £270 UK you wont be disappointed.

£270 would be great, but I ***HATE***HATE***HATE*** cables.. that's why I'm only switching after the new TB MacBooks.. one cable to power, display and external SSD...
I could have done before with the 12'' MacBook, but if I did that I would be using at least two cables for data/display plus I would be limited to 4k@30hz+usb3 or 4k@60hz+usb2...

yeah I have pretty strict requirement as for cabling and stuff... so my options are pretty limited... (looks like the ultrafine 5k is my only option, not even the ultrafine 4k)

Me too, I hate cables but try and hide them some how!, its difficult, but do my best to ignore them!

I had been considering this but cannot accept that ugly monitor in front of me for 2300 hours a year....

yeah I know, the frame isn't the best looking on the market, but the screen is, at least one of the best screens on the market. I think it uses the same display on the 2015 5k iMac, and the screen on that is just unbeatable.

really wished apple could have one of their own 5k monitors right? but unfortunately apple let LG did the work... sign....

2016 13" TB MBP as my daily driver. An old 2011 13" MBP (upgraded to 16GB RAM and 500GB SSD) I use occasionally to copy data from customer Macs that have issues and to test OS X updates (I'm a computer consultant.) Also a 9.7" iPad Pro that I mostly use as a Kindle and couch web surfer.
