I saw that some people like to use a 15" together with a 12", others get by with just a 13"..and there are also many other combinations (imacs, minis, pros and monitors).

What's yours, how and for what do you use it?
MacBook Pro (2016) and 27" iMac and a 2015 MacBook when traveling. This may change. May sell the MacBook now that I have the new MBP.

I use my 2012 iMac daily, and some days I use the iMac and my 2011 MacBook Pro, I use to use it every day for university. I may upgrade next year to the newer model with Touch Bar.

I had 5 Macs at one time, but now I'm down to three and will keep this config for a while.

2016 nTB MBP 16GB/512GB SSD: This is my main machine. I dock it at home to my Thunderbolt Display (still love it years later) and use it for all of my travel.

2014 Mac mini 8GB/1TB Fusion Drive connected to an eGPU (Akitio Thunder 2) with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti: this is my gaming machine. I use it without a monitor and exclusively use Steam in-home streaming to my nTB Mac and my Steam Link in the living room. Everything is running on gigabit wired LAN. I get frame rates and quality that are very good for my needs. I'm not a hardcore gamer and only haver under 10 hours per week. So this setup works perfectly for me.

2012 Mac mini 8GB/128GB SSD: This is my machine at the office and has been working very well since I bought it as a refurb in 2014. I have it hooked up to two Dell 23 inch monitors, which are getting old and I hope to replace soon.

One note about my eGPU. I have it working fine in Windows 10 with the internal screen on my 2016 nTB MBP. It performs a bit better than Steam streaming, but I can only play games on the internal screen (won't work on my Thunderbolt Display). After gaming on the 27" Thunderbolt Display and my 47" TV, I'll take the small hit caused by streaming to play on a bigger screen.

Eventually I'll probably switch to a TB3 enclosure and replace my Thunderbolt Display. That's a bit down the road though.

I have two but I only use the 2015 15" MBP daily.

I bought a new 2012 non retina MBP last year at the same time as I bought the 2015 just to keep for CD burning or whatever. It still has the stock HD in it because a SSD isn't important but I did upgrade the RAM to 16GB.
