I was thinking, whilst sitting in traffic this morning, that I have owned more than my share of Macs since switching back from the PC world in May 2002. Nine fippin' Macs. The excellent resale value of Apples has allowed me to swtich computers a ridiculous rate. I need an intervention or something. Somehow, my wife has not left me.

Four or five, depending on how you view clones, since 1993.

Performa 476 a.k.a. LC 475
PowerComputing PowerCenter 120
PowerBook G3/233 no L2 cache (gone, thankfully)
PowerMac G3/400
PowerMac dual G4/800

(At least I'm still on my first iPod! And I've accumulated quite a collection of Apple stickers.)

May 2002 - Dual 1.0 PowerMac. Sold 1/2003 in anticipation of speed bump.

Aug. 2002 - 14 inch iBook. Needed a portable for a month-long business trip. Sold Oct. 2002 b/c I didn't need it anymore.

January 2003 - 17-inch iMac. Wanted a "hold-over" desktop. Sold in March 2003.

March 2003 - Dual 1.42 PowerMac. iMac just wasn't working out - wanted dual processor power for proapps. Sold in June in anticipation of G5.

March 2003 - 12-inch PowerBook. Transferred to position with weekly travel and I wanted a mac to carry around. Sold in July.

July 2003 - 1 Ghz eMac. "Hold-over" until G5. Sold in Oct.

Oct. 2003 - Dual 2.0 G5. Sold in January '04 when I took a lower paying job to raise cash.

January 2004 - 17-inch PowerBook. For some reason I thought this was an "economical." Sold a month later.

February 2004 - 12-inch G3 iBook. Ultimate cost saver while I wait for Rev.B G5.

Somehow, my wife has not left me.
u must be an authorized reseller😀

Well, this has all been a while, but I'll come as close as I can 🙂

06/1993 Performa 250 16 MHz @ $900-$1000

11/1993 Quadra 610 25 MHz @ $2000

10/1995 Radius 81/110 110 MHz @ $1800
(last NuBus configured model)

10/1999 PowerMac G4 'Sawtooth"
400 MHz @ $ 1650

04/2002 Ti Powerbook 667 MHz @ $3000+

Kinda fun to look back. All except for the price of my Powerbook compared to now OUCH! 😀

My family's owned six.

SE, something else, Performa 6400/180, G3 PB 333, G4 Cube 500, G4 TiBook 800.

IIe
Mac Plus
LCIII
Starmax 160 (still working)
----------
Abandoned Apple for Windows (job reality)
Got Sober
----------
ibook 600

Waiting on finances for a G5

Centris 610, summer 1993
iMac rev. B, spring 1999
iBook 500, summer 2001
eMac, 1Ghz, fall 2003

I'm hoping that by the time I buy my next computer I'll be back into a cycle of my life where I have a good job (right now I'm in grad school . . . again). Then maybe I can get a non bottom-of-the-line mac for the first time since 1993.

You're far enough away that you may remove your shoes, if that will help. 😀

1997: 2nd hand Quadra 700
2000: 2nd hand Powemac 7300/180
2003: New 1 GhZ eMac

I still have my old ones because by the time I got a new[er] one, the old one would be worth about NZ$10, and there'd be no point selling it. 🙁
