Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm also on the iPhone Upgrade Program and I know the standard AppleCare+ comes with it but I was just wondering how many people used it, if at all.
I’m not pay $200 extra for my $1000 iPhone 11 Pro. That’s a 20% ripoff. That’s like paying $6000 insurance on a $30,000 vehicle.
But when disaster strikes you are VERY happy you have it. A month ago I broke the back of my XS (first time I ever broke a phone). Paying the $99 deductible kinda sucked, but its nothing compared to the $549 or whatever it is if I didn't have AppleCare. Even more so when talking about health and autoinsurance is a strange thing. it's probably the only thing in the world you happily pay for it and wish you just paid for nothing.

Just me, but I always buy it and make sure a used phone I buy has it. Can't beat advance exchange if you are in a bind as well.
It really is a strange concept, and the prices make it better to just risk it. Applecare on the 11 cost $149 and $29 for a cracked screen ($180 total). If you do not have AppleCare and crack your screen it is $199. You are talking about a $20 difference and you keep the $149 if you never have an incident.
Obviously people who have multiple incidents are saving money, but to buy insurance for a potential $20 savings if you have an accident isn't worth it.

You can buy the phone and the previous owner can cancel it right away for a prorated refund. If they do not transfer the AppleCare to you, you should never pay a premium second hand for a device with AC.
I always have the owner transfer it, but thanks for telling me what I should/shouldn't do.
Look at reviews for the Theft and Loss coverage. Find my iPhone obviously needs to be turned on, however, if it is stolen and turned off, I read about enough cases of Apple not honoring the Theft and Loss portion that turned me off from buying it.
Apple care + with Theft and Loss is $299, so its 30%. Add the deductible of $269 and you are looking about $600 + taxes which is 60%. An absolutely bad deal. Use a credit card that has theft and loss protection instead.
I got it this year. It’s my first time getting it. I usually just do AppleCare+. I’ve never lost a phone, but it was only $4.17 per month extra.
Anyone know how it would work if you’re on the IUP program? Pay the $269 deductible, get a replacement and then start over from scratch on payments?
How dare I give solid advice, because not everyone realizes that and you could have been one of those people.

Serious question. How would someone get into your phone to turn that off? They would actually have to know your password. I can understand that logic from Apple's point of view.
