i can't go back to dumb phones. heck i can't even go back to non-touchscreen phones! iphone is just so useful, you can surf the internet wherever you are, and most importantly, it's easy! My older n95 could surf too with wi-fi (3g wasn't that popular-cheap those days), but the controls really sucked compared to an iphone. plus all the apps!

Barely a second goes by that I'm not on my iPhone. That said, i really hope that iTunes match doesn't eat data or else i may not be able to afford it :(

You could play music with a classic iPod while blindfolded, and control it fairly well too.

You could place and receive many calls with an oldschool clamshell phone blindfolded.

Won't be able to do any of those particularly well with any smartphone, sadly.

While I do want to agree with you in some ways, cause I have a fond nostalgia for old iPods, that's not exactly true, you're forgetting voice control on modern smartphones that can actually let you do those tasks maybe even more accurately than blindfolded on old tech. Plus, some of us have got to the point with muscle memory that you can actually control the phone well enough even without the tactile feedback.

JoeG4, remember that you can just play your iPhone (or anything with an audio jack for that matter) in your car through the use of an AUX (auxiliary) cable. I found it much easier than plugging it down onto one of those iPod-compatible docks which are so faulty.

I'm with you on the dumbphone ease regarding speed dial though!

Anything is possible. I would go through serious withdrawal though. Might have to go into phone rehab...

Tecnology is always evolving, and so are people. If there is something new to use, why would we go back to ancient times If back then, all we wanted was to reach our present technology times?

I'm sure if we had to, we would be able to just fine. If we had the choice though, of course not. Who would actually want to rub two sticks together?

I'd be fine with a dumbphone..and an iPod touch :D
especially now with iMessage in iO5

With iPad, I think I could go back, but there aren't any dumb phones that I like. If Apple made iPhone nano, for instance, I think I might (although I probably wouldn't).

i tried it, didn't work at all...decided i'd rather give u the ipad

I got my first iPhone in Nov 2010 and I will never go back. Unless Apple really decides to try and screw me, I will probably always be an iPhone user. Partially because of all the things the iPhone can do, and partly because I enjoy the whole jailbreak/unlock game of cat & mouse. :D

I went away for the weekend a few weeks ago and forgot my phone!!!!...it was absoloutley great!!!....free from the chain!!!!...wish the bloody things were never invented sometimes!!!!

lol, iPods had the good ole minijack long before they had an iPod dock connector ;)
