everything. what possible can a desktop do that my MBP can't? except maybe do it faster. ... my mbp can cook eggs on my lap when I wake up.. my tower can do that :p ;)

Have an LCD that doesn't suck. :D

I used a 2007 Santa Rosa MBP that I bought as soon as they came out as my primary machine for almost 3 years (I bought an i5 iMac a few weeks ago). I mostly used it for general computing and light audio editing. When I got into heavy audio editing, I found the screen to be much too small, hence the 27" iMac. Now I use the MBP whenever I need to take my Pro Tools projects with me (or for whatever reason I'd need a mobile computer).

do you want 1680X1050 or 1080P instead?

I think 1400X900 is the perfect resolution for a 15" screen. wouldn't a higher resolution just eat up your battery life faster?

1680x1050 would be fairly reasonable for Apple, I mean you know Steve Jobs and his recent ultra-conservative take on things. Geez, he's making Ron Paul look like a liberal..

No, that wasn't at all what I was referring to though lol :D I was referring to IPS screens! It really is a big big big deal to me. HUGE.

This is what I'm talking about:

i own and exclusively use a 17" november 09' unibody macbook pro with 8 gigs of ram and 1 tb scorpio blue hdd

this is my first apple computer.

i think apple is evil and steve jobs is satan.

I have a 08 2.53Ghz MBP (unibody model) and I use it for my photography stuff (aperture), some photoshop, some web publishing and some office app stuff

I now use my MBP as my primary computer. I use Parallels w/Win 7 for my Windoze needs. I used my HP desktop when I had my PowerBook G4 for school and other stuff but I no longer need it. It's nice only being tied to one machine now instead of two.

I used to have a 13" MBP as my primary computer. Then again, I didn't do too terribly much. I'm a student, and the most taxing thing I did on it was probably just run Maple or something.

I'm not too terribly heavy of a user. If my last 13" wasn't stolen, I probably would have kept it for years. I'll get a new one when I have the money.

I don't like using multiple computers, all of my files and settings are on one thing usually and to switch back and forth was hard. Plus, I have a 27" iMac that I can't use because the resolution is way too high. I can't read off of it.

Late '08 15" MBP.

I use it for everything. I have a 13" MBP I use for work loaded with Windows 7 and an imac on my desk at home. But, I keep my 15" MBP with me all the time and I always steer towards using it rather than the others.

Trying to decide if I need an iPad...yes, I need serious intervention!

Early 2008 15" MBP, using it for Web, Mail, ruby programming, Latex, MATLAB, Keynote, iPhoto, iMovie, sometimes games via Bootcamp (not for much longer, thanks to Mac Steam). I'm using an external monitor 99% of the time, but I like the portability even though I rarely need it. The only thing I don't like is the slow HD, but I'm getting a SSD as a replacement soon.

Early 2008 17" MacBook Pro.

Using it for Safari, Mail, Word, iTunes, Pixelmator, and for watching movies. Mostly 1080p because of the screen. Primary home computer. :apple: !!!

2.8GHz 15" anti-glare MBP.

Use it for encoding video (mostly for the Apple TV) and any uni projects I'm doing, photoshop, website design/coding, web browsing, music, email, instant messaging. A lot of the time I'll have Parallels Desktop loaded up too (running Windows 7) so I can run things like MS Access or Visual Basic for whatever reason.

I like having a really powerful portable laptop - can do whatever I want, wherever I want.

2007 2.2 15" 4gig matte

use it equally to my desktop (iMac)
MBP when I am on the go

develop web apps (JEE), database, presentations (love the remote for that) and the usual (email, browsing etc.)

so far I found a way around using windows for basically every thing I need (but I understand that it might not always be possible)

link them (MBP and iMac) through os x server and CronoSync

prefer the iMac for the screen size (if that thing only would come with a matte option)

Late 2007 2.2ghz Santa Rosa MBP, its my primary machine, mail, web, iTunes, Digital Photography (100GB of images, and counting!)

I have a small Dell netbook (Mini 9) I use for simple web browsing with Ubuntu, but my MBP is my main "go to" machine!

I've not yet found anything I need to do that the MBP can't cope with...

I have the original 1.83 core duo macbook pro. I ordered it right after they announced the switch to intel chips. it is still my main computer and it is used primarily for web development including, but not limited to, photoshop and illustrator cs3, php, javascript, html, css, etc.

other than that it gets used for typical computing like email, web surfing, watching videos, itunes...

I'm starting to feel its age depending on what I am doing in photoshop and how many other applications are open at the same time. It will probably be replaced sometime this summer with a newer machine.

I use both MBPs in my signature. The 17" one is my main machine; the 15" one is a secondary computer that I also sometimes take when traveling. I use them for everything: work, school, leisure....

2009 15" 2.66 MBP is the only CPU I own. I do everything from Photoshop to WOW on it. I love this machine. So much better than my previous two Toshiba Laptops.

15" uMBP 2.4GHz/4GB RAM/9400m & 9600m/320GB 7200rpm

i use it about 90% of the time from everything like image editing/light gaming/streaming media/misc general computing etc....

My windows based PC is an overclocked Intel Quad @4GHz with a 4890 and 8gb of RAM on a triple rad liquid cooling setup (D-Tek & Swiftech) and it basically collects dust lol...yeah I know turn it into a hackintosh...
