I agree with Nermal.. I used it somewhat intensively for a couple weeks and I've decided it's worse than XP (and I kinda like XP). All the new features seem to be either copied from Tiger or useless.

I'll get it the day it's released for my PC('s) but will still have XP as my main boot partition for probably almost year after release.

As long as I want to continue getting paid, I will be using windows. Therefore I will be using Vista eventually.

macs are more fun, look better, work better, and just are better.....but the buisness world that I know, runs off windows, and therefore will run off Vista eventually.

I for one look forward to the OSX clone, at least it will be more familiar.

Ill certainly try it - although I hope that Steve releases 10.5 just after so we have something really exciting to combat the feeling of "oh my, Microsoft has just level pegged"

I just hope that Apple has some excellent features up its sleve that isn't eye candy, but something truly revolutionary. Expose for me is revolutionary - so simple, you wonder why they haven't been doing it all the time - thats what I'm after.

Haha!!! :D

But seriously, yeah, I'm trying Vista but probibly not right when it comes out... system requirements are supposed to be huge.

wow I didn't even know there was such a thing. When is it coming out? I am very anxious to try it. Can't bea Tiger though. I doubt that changed THAT much, they wouldn't do that to windows users.

Yes i probably will try it.

When the MBP come out with merom and i like the specs i will be selling my two other comptuters (iBook and iMac) and getting the laptop. With the 64 bit versions of vista supporting EFI hopefully it will be easyier to install windows and be fully supported.

I dont like windows and would much rather use OS X but for some of the programs that i will need to use for my major it will be easier to just use one computer. OS X for my main OS and vista (shudder) for a backup.

Been there, done that........(can't say how)

So far, not impressed.....
same ole same ole......
pretty on top.....
mostly same ole M$ crap underneath.....
with a FEW minor improvements on top......
and takes mucho horsepower to run at full speed :(

OS X still light years ahead IMHO !

I won't be rushing out to get a copy, that's for sure. I'm sure I will get to use it however - it's kind of inevitable. Hopefully it will show some improvements.

I don't have any PCs (that's powerful enough to run it), and I won't be installing it on any Intel Macs, thank you. But I'm sure I'll run into it somewhere, be it at my university's computer lab, a friend's computer or at a store. And when I do, I'll be sure to fiddle around with it. I'm curious about it personally, and being a computer geek, I just gotta try it out.

Vista was on the front page of the technology section of the paper this morning, I think it looks pretty cool. Would anyone want me to post a pic? of the main screen? The thing that made me laugh was that they were pospoining it to 2007. :p

I'll buy a copy to run in VirtualPC the first time I have an absolutely-essential application that has no OS X version and which won't run under Windows 2000 or XP.

I expect it to bring my poor little G4 PowerBook to its knees, although it runs W2K with decent agility.

By the time I replace this computer with a newer Mac, Vista will be very old news (kind of like Windows NT is today).

I think it will bring my Dell P4 2.4 GHz to its knees by the sound of things and fancy graphics tweaks wont work with the present graphics card.

In the market for a Mactel Mini before another PC desktop.

Plus I would imagine there wont be any real must haves for the cost

I wrote that before reading about the shipdate slipping again and the wheels falling off back at Redmond. Revise the above to say: By the time I replace this computer with a newer Mac, the story of Vista's cancellation may be very old news (kind of like Copland is today).

Nope

No... i still can't figure out what XP does that Windows 2000 doesn't. Other then the bloat. I'm thinking Vista will be the same.

Well, I'm almost positive my father will buy it because he is definitely pro-Windows. So, I will probably observe him use it, but I will not myself. Does that count? :p Incase you're wondering, nothing can switch me back from OS X. :)

how do you know he isn't already?

as for trying vista, yes but probably at the computer store.

If OS X Leopard's Visualisation rumor is for real, I suppose it can't hurt to have Vista on there in place of XP? :p

I don't know if I'm going to go out right away to get it but eventually I will. (Maybe after service-pack 2 that shouldn't be that long:) )

..and eventually at work but we still have a lot of people that use windows 2000 pro. I believe it will be awhile before I get to use it at work.....
