pfft, none of us will be trying Vista, it would have to be released for that to happen, and given the track record it currently has I'd say that's never happenin

As a Vista beta tester, I'm sure I'll pick up a copy when it [eventually] ships. It will be interesting to see how much Microsoft charges for all the different versions. Is Ultimate going to cost $249 (upgrade)?

I'm currently running Vista Ultimate, although at this time there is not much difference between Ultimate and Home Premium. If you haven't see a working beta, you'll be surprised by Microsoft's additional security measures. In my opinion, there's way too many and I find them somewhat annoying.

I'm sure this will change with time, but my Pentium 3Ghz (800Mhz FSB) scores a measily 3.0 (out of 10) on Vista's performance control panel. While the whopping 512MB of RAM I have in that machine scores a 5.2 (out of 10). LOL. I'm not really sure where Microsoft is going with this "feature." The ideal is to get a 10 in CPU, RAM, VIDEO, etc across the board.

I don't have a pc, so i can't install it. but i will probably use it in spare time with other people's computers. casually.

btw, you spelt maybe wrong…

LOL, do you realize that you spelled "spelt" the British way? Which is funny, because if you're American and actually in NYC, then it's spelled wrongly...:D

I'm going to get VISTA when it comes out in the States. I think it has a lot of potential to be a really nice OS.

So spelt is officially wrong in the US? Hmmm....

According to the Dashboard Dictionary Widget, yes, but according to my Google Toolbar Spell Check, no (Actually, it never finished spell checking, but it did mark "mkrishnan" and "Hmmm...." [two words around "spelt"] as misspelled.).

The OSX inline spell checker (i.e. in Safari and other Cocoa apps) also thinks spelt is a real word.... :) Mkrishnan isn't, but I think I added Mohan and Krishnan to mine. ;)

I'll more than likely be forced into using Vista. One of my computer dummy friends will download something bad, ignore all the dummy OKs and I'll be forced to try and figure out how to fix it.

That being said if I ever do buy it, it would definetly wait until the first service pack was released and I would have to buy a new PC which is unlikely since I want a MBP so bad. So far the hardware requirements looks horrible it would probably kill my P4 1.7 w/ 512 RAM which runs XP fairly spiffyily.

Alas, I am winding down my career in computers, and I can't bear the thought of troubleshooting what may conceivably be the most bloated, "complerkated" pile of rubbish to hit our world. I'm TIRED of making things work on XP now. Let the kids, mostly geeks to be sure, spend THEIR lives having their version of fun. I am done, as life is too damn short.
OS X for me.
