Not sure I'll be getting one when they launch, but if it lives up to hopes (3G, larger storage, GPS) I'll certainly be hoping to get one when my current contract is up later in the year/early next year.

I literally live about 3 miles away from NYC (Queens) and while i am even at home and want to check something on my Razr2, its really quick and often loads fast, its just the stupid small screen i have, compared to the iphone of course. So i am on these rumor websites every single hour trying to see if there is anything new. A MONTH AND A HALF LEFT (HOPEFULLY!!!)

I've been waiting for a year now :) When I found out the iPhone didn't have 3G support, I bought a Helio Ocean instead. Not only 3G support, but also GPS and A2DP so I can use a wireless stereo headset (makes NO sense that the iPhone doesn't support stereo!) I live in the Seattle area, where I get a solid 3G signal almost everywhere I go, even waiting in the theater for a movie to start, even visiting my parents in Bremerton or my grandmother in Olympia.

I'd love to spend my government "free" $600 to buy an iPhone, and I'm even willing to pay the early termination fee on my Ocean to get one. But it has to have 3G, Edge is just way too slow for me. So yes, I'm waiting on the edge of my seat.

I know I'm swimming upstream like a salmon here, but the more research I do, the more I think you'll be waiting until the Fall. If not later. I just don't see Apple combining the release of firmware 2.0 and all it brings with a new device. It makes much more sense to me to ride the wave of increased sales that 2.0 will bring into a new release of the iPhone for the Holidays. 2.0 is basically turning the gen 1 iPhone into a whole new beast.

i don't know what i'm doing. i bought an iphone when they were first released in the uk. then i sold it just before the price promotion as i heard it was coming and thought the secondhand value of my phone would drop. i planned to wait for the 3G version. but now i really don't like using my old nokia. if there were any iphones left at o2 or carphone warehouse i would buy another one today.

I'm waiting until June/July/Whatever. I want an iPhone, but don't need one. Well, how many people actually need one? :p

There is lots of buzz of a release in June. I'm pretty sure there is one. They certainly wouldn't have done the O2 promotion if that was not the case - as it proved to be a good way of reducing stock - too good as it turned out!

I'm glad I have waited though, and I fully expect the 3G model to come out in June. I really hope that the BBC iPlayer (which currently only works in Wi-Fi because EDGE is too slow) will work anywhere on 3G and I live in London so I have no issues with coverage. GPS would be a great bonus as long as it doesn't compromise size and battery life (I know Apple will only include it if it doesn't).

But I'm really hoping for a 32GB version - maybe it's too expensive yet to achieve. Otherwise, I'll stick with 16GB but there;'s no way I'm buying an 8GB version - way too little space for all the stuff I need.

I think that now is the worst time to buy an iPhone.

Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me

I've been waiting a year for this new release. I broke down in December and got an iPhone only to find out I was still in my Verizon contract until May 9th. I was so bitter, but returned my phone for credit and hoped that my forced wait would pay off with physical upgrades to the phone.

So, even if it means I pay $100 more than I would a month later, I'm first in line for iPhone 2.0.

The only problem is that I have a couple of accessories - namely a Vaja case that was ordered as a birthday gift (arrives today) that I fear now wont work. I can't return the Vaja case either. I'm hoping that the specs will let the case fit.

i can't wait to get an iphone, so i have to wait! :D

since i touched the ipod touch (and later an iphone from a friend), i've got an allergy to touch another mobile phone device! i can't use a standard keyboard with these [2 ABC][3 DEF][4 GHI] ... buttons, or the small screen, just everything!

so i'm really looking forward to see the new iphone 2 at the 9th june with the following features:

- 3G (if there's a new one, it will have it...)
- GPS (a very useful modul)
- 32 GB
- still a metal case (i won't buy it if it's made of plastic!!)
- the same 3.5" lcd display
- official sale over a SWISS provider!!!

the higher power consumption of the 3G chip made me think if there will be the option to switch it off. with a more powerful battery or/and a less consumptive hardware mix, it would gain running time compared to the iphone 1st gen..

Counting the days to WWDC

I've got a Treo 650 on life support right now, hoping it stays alive until June...

do you think the cost of the data plan will go up with it being 3G? I am currently looking at the 59 dollar plan cause I don't use too many minutes, but I am afraid it won't be there when the new 3G comes out.

Well I have a 8310 BB and have been waiting for the upgrade to the June model. I was in the AT&T store the other day and almost pulled the trigger on the 16gig, but after talking with the sales associate stated, " Awe you dont really know for sure if the update will take place in June, so you should just one now!" Hmmmmmm Trying to dump the old stuff before the new ones arrive? Held off and am waiting for June.... Then I will have a BB 8310 for sale, interested???

I'm waiting too...

My Verizon contract recently expired, and now I'm waiting for the next iPhone to come out before I switch. Hopefully it will be in June...while I'm currently using a POS razr as my cell phone, at least I have my iPod Touch to hold me over if it ends up being a longer wait...

While I'd like 3G, I'm also holding out in hopes of other potential features like 32 GB of storage, a better camera and/or video recording capabilities, and improved battery life.

GPS would be nice too, but I already have a standalone GPS that I like to have mounted on my windshield (convenient when driving), so full-fledged GPS in the iPhone doesn't interest me much. The current 'fake' GPS is good enough for my current needs (I've used it on my iPT).

If I thought 3G was going to be the only update I'd probably just buy right now. But I'm optimistic there will be other updates along with 3G!

count me in

my Treo 700P fits my needs but I want an iPhone. I am no longer trapped in a Verizon contract. 3G is not important to me as I live in a rural area. I don't think it is even available. But third party apps, GPS, voice dialing -- all the stuff I do on my Treo -- are important. I will be buying in June/July. But the screen better not be smaller!

waiting....
trying to sell my ipod touch so i wont be double screwed when the new iphones come out
this is assuming that a new model touch may be following shortly afterwards...

Waiting, waiting very patiently, but little intension on buying, unless i can get a subsidized iPhone. I'd be all over it if it was. It all depends on pricing.

im in. .

saved about 700 dollars just in case right?. .
lol. planning to give my iphone to girlfriend and change plan to a family one or sell my iphone to get two 3g iphones. :) i dont mind about the space being 16GB again. :)

I'm waiting for one. The timing wasn't right for me last year for the iPhone launch, then when I was getting ready to buy one the 3G rumors started building so I'm still without.

Waiting to take one to college with me. I just bought a touch and it's amazing, i seriously don't know what I did before without this thing. I actually use the features on it unlike my other iPods. No longer is the calendar app useless... The downside is I repeatedly mistake it for an iPhone. I know it sounds crazy, but sometimes my phone will ring and Ill pull out the touch instead of my crappy phone. Plus, whenever i go to text someone I whip it out my touch is such a tease. Giving me blue fingers...

Im waiting.

Has anyone managed to get a O2 Phone contract thats less than £35?

Because basically I 95% of the time text, spent £20 a month so on a contract thats really like 600 texts and 30 mins, internet doesn't bother me.

Im getting one, it just depends on who its with, lets hope the shop staff have some sense in them and get me as a customer...
